Post up pictures of your dog on the boat.
Btw best dog boats are toons and Schiadas.
Best boat dogs are retrievers. JMHO. YMMV. Etc.

Here is my SIL’s dog Taz. IMG_1322.jpeg

My wife's English black lab has long hair and sheds like crazy - that dog is not going in my truck or the boat with white interior. I'm sure she'd love to go to the river and hang out, but that ain't happening....I'm talking about the dog, not the wife.

I'd love to get my GSD on the Hallett but don't want his hair everywhere. It's a total bitch to clean. He swims like a fish!

Thought our GSP would be a great boat dog. It’s anything but relaxing for anyone/everyone when he’s on the boat. Had a long talk with him. He stays at home in the AC now. 😬

Gracie, our boat dog. RIP girl.

If you want a water dog, don’t get a Yorkie, ours had that WTF am I doing out here look all the time. We tried though. Put her on the swimstep and let her wander around, she’d fall in, we put her back on the swimstep.

So what's the consensus with Labs & Lifejackets ?
Do some lakes / bodies of water have pet life jacket laws?
Haven't had my current black lab on the boat yet . . . and my last chocolate lab was was 12+ years ago . . . wondered if things/ laws/ regs. have changed.
TIA.

My Dog loves the River. But it's a lot of work to bring her. No getting her out the water. Have to drag her. We usually compromise when I go. She gets to stay at my Moms with her brother. Mom has a pool and she swims 20 times a day.

The lab doesn’t need it, but where the life jacket excels is the handle on it so you can lift them up and get them back in the boat without their nails scratching up the gel coat.

It’s more for your convenience in dealing with the dog in the water.
