I am going to make myself a new boat cover. I would like to see what some of yours look like. What features do you like about what you have and what would you like to improve?
Thanks

Mine isn't on right now, but it's just a burgandy cover with a silver stripe. Mine is a tow cover and has straps that go down to the trailer with velcro that I really like.

I'd like another one that goes over it. I'd like a "dust" cover out of a finer material so that the dust wouldn't go through the cover and into the boat. My current cover will keep water out, but somehow dust goes through it.

The New cover.

New cover 1.jpg

This is a good base. The old one was reinforced at every wear point from front to rear. I'll have this one done the same way plus custom cuts for search-lite, rocket launcher, and rear control for the outboard.

I'm also looking for just a dust cover for the boat. Never stays outside to pay for a water resistant one.

Mine is the same, it’s in the garage, but every time I roll it off, there is fine dirt/dust, yet the few times I got caught in the rain, bone dry?

Sunbrella is the fabric of choice. It's pricey! I highly recommend Monica with Custom Canvas. I'm a cheap bastard, but she proved to me that her covers are well worth it. Having her do another boat this winter when I'm done with my other projects.

X2!... That's who did my first one with all the reinforcement so I could tow @ 80mph! ...And even after three years of abuse, repaired a few places that wore & tore for nothing! -- Really standing behind her work!

Here the tow cover i had made last year, it is soft touch on the inside of the canvas. It kept it pretty dry the few times we got caught in rain traveling last year. It stays in the garage full time, and usually i keep the cover on it unless we just got back from the lake.
I'll show my snap cover we did last year also, its sunbrella. It works good if you stay on a slip for the weekend or if you get caught in rain out on the water, you can throw the bow cover on and not worry about getting water in the mid cabin. I do also have a cheap cover that we covered boat with overnight if we stayed at the lake, but i haven't used it since we got the custom covers.

I use the basic cover from overtones for my “dust” cover. Light and easy to do. Plus cheap

Do you guys all mean Michelle in Havasu?
LOL, I was about to post the same thing! She did my Bimini's, she was great to work with, I really feel like she went out of her way to make sure I was happy with the outcome. I will have her do my cover once I have the funds.

Maybe posting a picture of your boat or at least what type and style, whether you intend to use it for indoor storage outdoor water shedding type storage ,Towing, might be a better way to get some suggestions

Exactly, why wrestle with a heavy ass boat cover! I have a lightweight one for my old boat but can't find one for a 27ft cat.

Its a 28' magic deck, I am looking for mostly a storage cover. Just bought a new house and have to keep it outside for a few years. The guy here at AZ boat top quoted me around 2500 for a cover. I know I can make one for less than that even if I have to buy a sewing machine.

Have you priced sewing machines lately. One that can do thick sun tells material will cost you way more then 2500.

You can get a decent used machine for 500 . Retail sunbrells is expensive. Check the manufacture for their offerings first.

Ultra boats had awesome 2 layer boat covers to protect it from all elements. The inner liner protected it from condensation and heat while the outer cover protected from the exterior elements. The cover itself costs $1200 to purchase but they were worth it if you had the money.

My boat sits in the garage all the time except when we are using it, and i have spent over $3,500 on my covers. The tow cover i posted earlier was $1,800 but not sunbrella, the snap on bow and cockpit cover was like $1,475 but they tore up my trailer wiring, so i only payed $1,400. My cheap cover was a little over $300.
If you have a nice boat, why not take care of it?

I have a cover from Custom Canvas and I cover that with one of those cheap eBay gray “waterproof” covers. When I go get a new cover made, which will be soon, I’m going back to Custom Canvas.

I’m too cheap and my boat sits in the garage, use a big oversized poontoon cover from Overton’s cost like 100$ and keeps the dust off it during the winter.
