Its that time of year! Fleet week in San Francisco. Back in my fishing for a living days, we could see the fleet lining up out by the Farallon Islands. If it was foggy you could see 12 to 15 blips on the radar. Today it’s only 8 to 10 ships now. Including a couple of Canadian and a few smaller ships. But then there is the Blue Angels. They will pass by the fireboat at less than 50 feet. Afterburners screaming As they go vertical! It doesn’t get much better than this. Couple of years ago we took a picture from the crows nest on the fireboat Guardian. We were looking DOWN at the pilot he was so low. Who’s coming?

Hopefully they fly this year - Last year it was too foggy and they really didn't do the show. My son lives in the Marina district right across from the lawn where they set up all the displays. We were just talking about it yesterday. I know he will be there on his girlfriends family boat - they will be watching from the water this year.

They had an airshow in McMinnville, Or this weekend(Evergreen air Museum) . I didnt go this year but it's about 20mi from my house. So I got to see the Blue Angels fly over while doing yardwork.

Absolutely amazing show, have seen them twice, one on land and SF fleet week. I think it was late 90's that Fat Albert, their supply plane ran through the last of its JATO bottles. Think of a Greyhound bus with a solid rocket engine on each side.

I worked in San Francisco in the mid 80s in Union Square. I remember the first time they buzzed the city. It seemed like they came right up Post Street where I was working. Everyone on the jobsite stopped working and went outside to try and get a glimpse of them. The buildings in the City shook every time they went over.

I saw them once before at the base in Orange County while watching the races at OCIR.

There is an air show in Salinas also on the 8th. I wonder how much cross over they get if any? I could see a plane doing a show in one then flying over to the other in one flight doing 2 shows?

I’ve seen the Blue Angels a few times. Most recently a couple years back at Miramar. They always put on an excellent show, but will say the RAF Red Arrows are very entertaining as well. Not as much precision flying as the Angels, but a ton of action.

I was in the hospital in SF back in '08 during Fleet Week. I could see the GG and the Bay through my window in my room. It was badass watching them from there. Also saw them here in Gardnerville a couple years ago.

Back in the day when I rode dirt bikes at Superstition they were always practicing. Scared the shit out of me a few times when they came around the mountain right over us.

They fly the Super Hornets now. About 30% larger all around. Still fly the same kind of shows, just a little different.
