It’s official. The long time owner/operator of Black Meadow Landing has sold to Arizona Oasis of Erhenberg. The parent company also owns a few other RV parks in the Southwest.

Good old BML

I remember when my step brother and I had to spend the night with some girls a tad chubbier than we were accustomed to in order to crash at there trailer with AC. Tent camping in the summer makes a teenage boy do what he has to do....lol

First time I have thought about that in about 30 years. Wonder why they had a separate trailer from the parents...haha:D

Maybe someone will start manning the fuel dock. Last time we stopped there we spent 30 minutes trying to find someone we could buy fuel from.

Always a cool place to stop for ice cream for the kids and a cold beer for the adults on the way back to Take Out point..........

I have such good memories of that spot. I spent every summer there from 1977-1993. they use to have a quinset hut with an arcade inside and the bottom of the lagoon was sticky as hell. As a kid I used to dread walking through there. My dad use to always rent the spot next to the ice house so that he wouldn't have to walk far to fill the cooler and we launched our little jet boat with our motorhome. what a shitshow that was. lol

In the mid-70's they freaked at the fuel dock when they saw us idling in on our standup Kawasaki's, screaming at us to dismount and swim them in or leave.
Claimed their insurance wouldn't cover them being in their harbor a round their docks. Two families of us used to boat camp back in a bay across from there, so it was easier to ride them across then run the boat with gas cans.
Only experience with the place in all these years.

I grew up going there every summer. We stop in from time to time for a ice cream and snacks. It looks exactly the same as it did 40+ years ago .. and to be honest I hate to see it sell and change in the slightest way. I have so many great memories there with my dad who's no longer here..

I did the same thing. From about 2000 to 2012 or so we went every summer. Eventually had enough of George’s shit and left for the Islander. Funny they warned us it was strict there. lol they must have been joking. Islander to us was club med with no rules lol.

Also same dad is no longer here

Looking at old aerial photos the strip didn't go in until sometime in the 80's and doesn't appear to have been in use very long....
I recall it being used. But, only by the park owner.

BML - Have your own RV, know the drop offs ledges at the launch ramp, docks can be rugged, do not leave your boat tied to a dock overnight, keep your dog on a leash, don't leave pets in your RV especially when it's hot, park electricity does fail at times, don't expect to play loud music beyond 10pm, realize the beach is for everyone regardless of what site you're parked in, don't expect the restaurant to maintain regular hours, realize doing do-nuts in your golf cart doesn't fit particularly late at night, the road in isn't really that bad, not all dog breeds are allowed, expect a totally different winter time vibe (at times a big PIA), there are 'winter and summer' people and until they are totally remodeled avoid the kitchen cabins, park models and motel rooms. If possible, rent your site monthly. Weekend check-ins can be a nightmare at the office, monthly stays avoids that. There is no consierge. We actually had people ask about that. Storage areas in the park are currently uncovered, the desert environment can be brutal on stored items. If it's still there, do not let your kids play on the metal playground slide in the summer - it gets blazing hot. The level of the lake side lagoon fluctuates with the level of the lake. It can be gross. We never let our kids or dog play in it. Over the years we had 3 different RVs there. Made lifelong memories with our kids and grandkids and made a number of lifelong friends. We wish the new owners all the best. It is/can be one of the few family oriented parks at the lake. It worked for us.

Maybe the new owners will clean up that shithole, good riddance to the former policies and a-hole owner.

17 of us went on Friday the 16th for lunch after a jeep run. It was about 1:00 and we were seated and served quickly. I had the chicken fried steak and eggs and it was good. Some of the group said it had been years since they have been there do to poor management, but all was fine this time maybe due to pending sale.

I don’t know why so many people hate on BML. It’s exactly what Havasu was during the 60’s. My Dad’s first trip to Havasu was back in the 60’s and that first trip created another generation of river rat in himself, and eventually me.

I’ve stayed there a few times. Never a bad experience. It always felt like a throwback to a simpler time and probably reminisce of what scratched my Dad’s itch that got him going to the river and sharing it with his family.

I wish the new owners nothing but luck. BML was one of the first places to camp in Havasu. I hope they continue developing new river rats.

BTW, thru the years, when the restaurant was good - it was very good. Unfortunately, the opposite was also true when it was bad. The park is a BLM concessionaire leased operation. BLM requires the park to have a restaurant. Don't believe it is much of a Cash Cow.

I practically learned to swim in the lagoon in the summer of 1983 and spent at least 5 weekends for the next 10 years there.
We always stayed in the same spot. Boat anchored out at night. Four or five different families all in RVs.
Black Meadows will always be my favorite memories of Havasu but as a adult I have never wanted to go back.

My opinion either clean it up but knock it back to the 80s family values type park or modernize it entirely but it can't stay stuck in the 90s / early 2000s like it is.

How much more would you pay monthly for that?

We have had 3 increases in rent and no improvements at our park. But the owner has no problem spending our rent money at BB on improvements.

He keeps a cottage @ Emerald. One of these days just maybe I can ask him some Q's.
They seem to be letting Emerald go the cheap route on every maintenance thing they do there.

Where did you find the info on the sale? I’ve been looking on web.

Thru the years I saw lots of good and some bad at BML. The worst happened on a very hot summer day. I happened to be in the office when a young dad came in, while a wife, 3 kids and a dog waited in the car with the windows rolled down. Probably no AC. They just wanted to swim in the lake and cool off. When the lady behind the desk was done adding up fees, she was somewhere around $80. The dad couldn’t believe it. When he walked outside I also walked out. I told him about the various free swimming spots on the lake and river. If I had it to do over, I would have paid for them and said, Enjoy.

if that desk person was bright enough tell the man to eat at the restaurant and get 50% off on exit. That’s the tip of the iceberg

That was a few years ago. They were giving “cash back” when exiting the park? I’d have to see that to believe it. Lol

Back when Havasu Airport was on the island.

If you had a trailer out there, and had permission, or was well know member of the area and group. The good old days. Super cub stuff.
