So I'm cleaning the boat and I'm having a hard time w it. Hot sauce isn't helping I'm going to wax the boat right now not sure if I should do the black chrome? I remember rd having a haze issue w his chrome but don't recall his solution. I should call him since I had another question anyways but is he awake yet? I don't have a good answer for you but I can see those anodized parts turning purple pretty quick.

I had a boat with red anodized parts and they all started turning pink. The big flat parts were the worst:(

I have the same vents anodized in silver and wax them all the time. I don't know about the haze, but they need protection. Lots of things haze up, just keep wiping..:D

I don't understand why Cobra anodizes parts that will be in direct sunlight. Powdercoat is much more durable and doesn't fade like anodize.

Powdercoating will fade as well unless it is clear coated.

Try some metal Polish. Looks like the aluminum is starting to oxidize.

Also depends on the color. My pump, plates and most of the hardware are powder coated orange with a clear coat. It's all faded and the pump is silver now. :grumble:

Eddie Marine Sux

It all depends who coats them, the metal, the color and etc. However, powdercoat is known to hold up much better than anodize.

V, I'm pretty sure those are Dana, the same as mine. I was having brain fad awhile ago, mine are powder coated silver metallic and clear coated. They show powder coated black chrome available, they don't show black chrome anodized available.

looks like someone used a caustic cleaner on the transom of the boat when cleaning it. Certain cleaners like Kaboom, Lime Away and others have acid in them and it will cause anodizing to come off or it will make a white haze in the parts. Soap , Water and wax are all that should be used on anodized parts.

I had mine powder coated Orange a year and a half ago from Dana. So far not the slightest bit of fade. Stored indoors of course.

We all have had some tough times... some more so than others. Where you come out is huge. Glad you are able to vent and listen to others' experiences and lessons learned. Have my respect for that.

The grab handles look to be fading. Spotted look. That color is powdercoat black chrome, not anodized.

Those are EMI handles, vents, and swim steps on the boat. I can't speak for the rest of the hardware on your boat other than the shifter that I did.

We use Tiger Drylac powder and I thought EMI did too. But I don't know for sure. We've done a fair amount of black chrome products and that is one color I haven't had a fading complaint about. Not saying it's not out there, I just have not been made aware of it by any of our customers.

They can be re-coated if need be.

We talked before, I have a special blue that was made especially for Ultra that only you have. I need a few misc parts and a set of IMCO headers and risers done. What is your turn around time?

The blue/purple color is in my sig pic.

The powdercoating itself only takes me a few hours. The prep work is another story. So it really depends on the condition of the items and the work they need to get ready for powder. Give me a call when you're ready and we can go over the details.
