Figured be a good place to ask so here goes, been tinkering around and making own waterskis, my 3rd so far and was wondering where i should place the bindings on a race ski i made. The ski is a little long just in the prototype stage but the dimensions are 89" long by 7" wide any input would be gratly appreciated! thanks!

I mounted bindings on a race ski a couple months ago, according to Bob Maher you want 40% of the ski between the very back of your front heel and the tail of the ski. Thats what i did and the ski rides great.

I also bought a fiberglass 360(69") with the original bindings and the front binding was placed at 44% foward. I would assume thats to get it turning a little better?

Bob Maher was very helpful:thumbsup

Bob @ Maha made me a randon length 88.5 when I started racing again,
My rear heel-front foot is 35.75, When I got it it was at 34.75 and had a little hop over 75.. After the change it rides nice and stable at all speeds, any water.. Im so old now Im not man enought to ride it!!

I think the issue is that you live too far north and need to jump on an Alaska flight that will drop you off near a race site.... Of course, you could be a hardcore and drive down for the Nor Cal races...Dave Allen used to leave the mill in Oregon after work with the truck and boat, drive through the night, ski race all weekend, and then turn around and drive all night and pull into the work parking lot just in time to go to work. Monday wasn't bad, but he said Tuesday was rough. Now that's hardcore and inspirational. Sean

Sean,

I know you understand my pain being that you used to live up here. Job changes and lack of cash have forced an early retirement...I get to live vicariously thru my brother and nephew... race weekends I make calls or get calls for updates... I still want to race (again) and hope.its sooner than later!

Good to see your Schiada up and running.

Dave
