Is taking the boat down to him now an option?
So yes, that’s an option. The discussion that was had was bring it down stay a couple nights and he would do something at cost. I love the guys down to DC B I love Kevin but I told Kevin to refund me my money and that really wasn’t an option. I found somebody here that’s willing to do it for 1300 to 1500 that’s all stainless steel with custom bends and a three color top. I was never questioning price. My boat was at DC be getting gel coat repairs, not cheap. I asked him for a Bimini guy who they sent me to who is not cheap,I drove and got the Bimini and had DCB install it I wasn’t looking for any discount. I wanted it done right by the best. This simply doesn’t serve a purpose it’s not about price like some people are saying here if I was looking at doing one for cheap I would’ve bought a $300 one off eBay and installed it myself.

Man I had an aluminum 3 bow made for our 21 foot eliminator for $350 at anyhting canvas in phelan. This was quite a few years ago though.
Just had my 4 bow re canvased for the Fundeck in two colors for $250 from Fox here in Hesperia.
3k seems insanely expensive for a 3 bow bimini but maybe I am out of touch.

These are stainless.. Kristen at seam dreams actually welds them instead of fasteners.. I can see 3’ish.. but 5-6’ish? I’ll open a shop for that

It sounds to me like you have to work it out with KMG.. At this point what was built is pretty worthless, but it may work for a smaller boat so maybe he could use it on something else.

Ok I guees I can see 3K for welded stainless but the OP is not welded. Those are rivets or set screws.

So this is the culprit on why the Bimini so short because they want to mount it where the man’s hand is in this picture because the boat narrows by putting an S Bend into the pipe you can now move the canopy forward. My new canopy should be done Thursday and installed cross your fingers. I will send pictures, and if anyone’s guessing what this is going to cost me $1500 so now would be a good time for any of you to say you get what you pay for lol

That bend isn’t exactly easy. And if anyone on here says it is, tell me what you’re worth an hour and tell me how long it would take to square up 2 bends like that 7-8 ft apart.

Bummer all around. Moving forward all everyone can do is make sure expectations are brought up and laid out so that both parties agree prior to work starting.

About 30 minutes with a tube bender? For all four bends and that’s with room for a cigarette while doing it. lol

All I’m saying is that it’s not easy. If the upfront cost is that cheap I’m an investor tonight.

It’s 6 bends on that piece 😁.

Plus another 2 on the other piece. Then you need a seamstress, non crack head installer who understands expensive boats. Before you know it we’re at 5k for this Bimini lol.

Obviously the people who have had quality Bimini tops built recently know what they cost. 2 yrs ago Seam Dreams built my pontoon Bimini. $7k. During Desert Storm the front half Bimini frame on my Malibu Wakeboat got fucked up. Nobody in Havasu could replicate the bends necessary to replace it. So 3 months later a replacement frame from Malibu shows up that I ordered. $1200 for a shitty piece of aluminum. The canvas top another $1200. Do Not fuck up your Bimini top or frame! It will cost you and you’ll be on the waitlist for awhile. There is more to it than it looks to be made to fit and look right.

Custom Canvas built me a new one for my vector 3 years ago. 6ft with mesh down the center all stainless. Was $1600
Monnica is now almost double that due to the cost of materials. Had a friend get one from her a month or so ago. F***ING inflation!!!

Maybe I misread the other post. I thought you meant it wasn’t a big deal to bend tubes.
But if you’re building bimnis everyday it shouldn’t take long imo. I could be totally wrong and it kicks my ass this winter. I'll post the updates on the build thread when i do it this winter.

Monnca is still doing it, she is just doing it our of her house in Upland. Her and her brother sold the place off of Arrow. Got a cover from her last year and it says Custom Canvas by Monica. She is also still doing Bimini's also.

Cover me custom was a Havasu shop.

We still have a custom canvas cover 34 years later 😎

I never saw this one before, I would’ve taken it to make a shade cover for my dogs in the bed of my pick up truck, modifications required.🤣

^^^ Looks nice!

Not perfectly flat but this is better for higher speed I'd imagine.

Don't get me started on biminis lol... I had one lose a screw and come apart at speed and frame bent up like a pretzel. Fabric was good, we used a few tricks and bent that bastard back in shape and made a few ugly tig welds but nothing some grinding and polishing couldn't fix. Good as new and saved enough to pay for gas the rest of the year.
