Thank you Preston and Paul at Horizon Motorsports. About 3 weeks ago I bought a used consignment boat from Horizon. I’m not going to say which boat so it doesn’t seem like I’m trashing the owner of the boat. I understand that shit happens with used boats and I don’t blame anyone. So anyway, I did a lake test with guys at Horizon and it ran great. I completed the purchase and put the boat in storage.
Fast forward to last Thursday. Me and my wife and some friends spend a bunch of money on a room and slip at the London Bridge with big plans for a 3 day weekend in the new boat. Long story short is the boat takes a shit within 30 minutes. Stuck on the water and get towed back.
I call Paul on his cellphone after business hours on Thursday night and he actually responds. I say “Hey Paul is there any way you guys can take a look at the boat and possibly salvage our weekend?”. Paul says, “Bring the boat by at 10 am when we open.” I show up at 10 am and within an hour I get a call. Bad news, major problem, water in one the cylinders.
Paul then tells me, “Hey, Preston says you can borrow a pontoon for the weekend to at least get you guys on the water.” I go down to pick up the FREE loaner boat and it’s full of gas and ready to go. Paul and Preston tell me, “We haven’t cashed your check yet on the broken boat so if you don’t want it, we can just call it a wash”. They could have easily said, “Hey it’s a used boat, it’s as is”. I told them I would think about the options and we had a great time on the pontoon all weekend.
So my wife has been telling me for years she wanted a pontoon and I was like “Hell no”. Well after spending 2 days on one I absolutely loved it. I went yesterday and bought a brand new trifecta and picked up my check for the other boat.
I can’t say enough about Preston and Paul at Horizon. They stood behind a used boat when they didn’t have to and saved my weekend with a free loaner. Thank you guys, you definitely earned a customer for life. I was treated right!

Nice to hear about something good for a change.
Just out of my curiosity, what type and size of boat did you buy that after riding in a toon changes your mind?
My first boat was a 27 Daytona and I had it for about 4 years. The Daytone was a great boat and we sold it a couple of years ago. Like I said in my post I’m not going to say what boat I bought from Horizon so it doesn’t seem like I’m trashing the owner. What sold me on the pontoon was the storage, the roominess, the ease of docking and getting on and off of the boat.

I was just curious if it was a 25'+ tunnel or a V-bottom kind of boat. Not looking to call out the boat owner.
I am in the same "boat" as you, I had the boat of all boats, a 240 OB Hallett and now I am ready for a toon that will cruise in the 30s and do in the 40s loaded up when needed.
What model and power did you go w on the Trifecta?

Great news!!! RDP expands free trailer rentals to boat. So not you contact 460 for the free swag. Drive Dave for the free trailer and Horizon for the free boat rental. 👍

In all seriousness that is outstanding customer service. Great to hear it all worked out in the end.

It was an MCOB v bottom. I bought a 24 foot trifecta with a 250 verado. Of course I would loved one with twins but $250,000 is not in my price range. The 250 and 300 verado are the same motor, except for the computer mapping. When my 3 year factory warranty is up I will get the 250 flashed for an easy 50 HP.

The boat is supposed to do 45-47, which seems accurate because yesterday during the lake test it got to 40 quickly. I’m not going to hammer on it during break in. Boat rides and turns really nice btw

No pics yet, it’s the blue and black 24 with single OB on Horizons website. We drove over yesterday morning from Temecula, test drove and paid for it, put it in storage and drove home. We will have it on the water next weekend.

I posted this story a few times in the past; I met Preston when he was in Colorado years ago. It was a sinking insurance claim, odd stuff, occurred on Havasu Boat was back in his dealership. I at times, was lied to by shop owners, to cover up BS by owners in order to get the $$. NOT Preston, he was straight up, we looked at damage, water line maeks, and more. I left quite impressed with his knowledge, and honesty. This post fits him, he is a gift to Havasu boaters..

Zero question they are the best in the business. I have seen them do things like mentioned above countless times for customers..

Wait till ya see the new trifecta coming to loto! I hope they have time to dial it in! Trip 500’s whaaatt?
Horizon has a couple of insane trifectas on the showroom floor. My wife started to look at them and I said, “Babe let’s go outside in the heat where us poor people shop”. Lmao.

So guessing Preston/Horizon call the owner of the Pro Charged Eliminator and say hey we sold your boat, but the motor grenaded on the new owner first weekend out.

Good news is the boat is here, and no consignment fees charged, bad news it needs a motor haha

I wondered how this would go as well.

On consignment they take the money out of the sale price, so say boat is asking $30k, fix the engine is $20k, it sells for $30k, they give the owner $10k (give or take any consignment fees).

Owner has to agree to that though I'm sure.

I’m not sure how they handle it on the back end.. but it will probably end up With me paying for it after losing a couple coin tosses.. lol

I bet Preston eats it not the seller. The seller has no clue how it was ran that day it went south.

Preston is killing it in business for being a stand up Guy. Sometimes you lose 1 but make it up on the next 1.
