I think we used to stop there for lunch. Ski up from the springs, get hotdogs or cheeseburgers and ski back down to the springs. Made going up to Thompson Bay fun.

Now that it’s been gone you have to dock and hike up to Barley or Javalina and it’s just not as much fun as food off a boat, eaten while floating in the bay, people and boat watching.

Isn’t this the barge from like the 80’s and 90’s and early 2000’s that killed it in the bay. The disappears for a bunch of years and came back like last year or the year before? What’s the deal?

I dont remember any food boats in the 80’s. I remember Gino’s in the late 90’s and the Bob’s Burger boat. Not sure when the orange boat showed up. Didn’t the city ban food boats in Thompson Bay years ago?

The Jerky boat from the early 2000’s was awesome too.
As was the pastie selling boat. Being 11-14 and seeing that thing was awesome.

We got our place in the springs about 2000. So it had to have been early 2000’s as that was when we were out there a ton and I remember first seeing that big orange food boat anchored in Thompson.

Thinking of bobs burger and yeah, 90’s. Not 80’s.

But the band food barges in the bay, kiiiiiinda makes me think that’s why they’re selling. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I remember the burger boat and another one that had ice cream sandwiches in the 90s. Was the coolest thing being a kid then.

Bring back 90s-2000s havasu!!!

I think they got in trouble with the city for fueling the party scene in the channel.

This is a new version of the old Big Orange boat with different owners. It sank in Thompson bay the first week they opened for business. They claim the recovery company damaged the boat during the salvage and over charged them.

There was also a long running feud on Facebook between them and Copper Still. IMHO, the boat is way overweight for the pontoons that they have. The whole thing is a total shit show and I feel sorry for the poor sucker that buys it.

I think anyone with $375,000 to spend on a boat has better things to do with their time then slinging burgers and dogs on weekends.

This boat got launched and caught in a monsoon first weekend out.. When it was being towed back in by the rescue boats it ran aground and punctured a toon. That's according to the owners of the boat. (Never asked the rescue guys).

While the boat is probably overpriced for what it is, from a business standpoint I'd bet it's priced pretty fairly.. The one back in the day absolutely killed it. They had the best burgers as well.. If I remember right it was called "Billy Burger".

I know it was there in the early to late 2000's..

My daughter would love this! We joke about retiring to the Caribbean and opening a taco boat. This is pretty damn close.

Granted you get more warning with a hurricane than a monsoon,,, That would suck to be stuck on the lake in an old houseboat.

Burgers, beer, ice and pasties were their major items of trade. They once had an apparently successful business.

Dave is correct, Billy’s Burgers was the icon that most would remember.
Anyone considering this had best do there due diligence. Licensing and permits are likely to be an issue.7

Billy Burger in the early-mid 2000s was a regular stop for us. Side tie while they grill the burgers fresh and then eat them in the boat while floating in Thompson Bay
