So after watching Alexi and the Boostpower “Fuel” session... are there any DCB or the like boats with “custom” power that run them on the regular? I know the 911 Skater and Brummet stuff is scarce just wondering if a DCB or any other West Coast boat runs a “west coast” type motor for every day use.

I will say I’m no expert but I will have Boostpower build me a motor (most likely on the smaller end) someday. It’s amazing how much knowledge Alexi has and how down to earth he delivered it on his web cast.

I think there are a lot more Brummett engines in use than you might imagine. There are a lot of west coast engine builders and many seem to have a pretty good reputation. If I was fortunate enough to build a new motor with someone else's wallet, I would choose Brummett Marine. Just my .02.

You can build a pretty stout motor and still use regular gas. The uniform fuel distribution of a port injected EFI engine along with the ability of a modern ECM and a knock sensor to retard timing makes it possible.

Seems all the fast F series DCB’s are BoostPower Teague etc but yea most all the M series I’ve ever seen are Merc power. But when it comes to Eliminator and any other big WC brands they have mostly non Merc power in the fast ones.

There are few Daytona’s with pro marine engines. And I know two have Larry’s engines too

Don Johnson runs twin Teague 1250s in his F32 "on the regular" and the Captain Hook M31 has Pro Marine motors in it. Bob Teague is finishing up his M31 with 1450s right now.

There are quite a few Daytona's out there that run custom power.

I'd say Teague is easily the number 1 motor builder for non-Merc applications on the west coast. seems like Boost is really starting to improve his position in the market as well

Thanks for watching, we have a small handful of DCB Boats running our moderate powers and a few running 1000-1100. You will find our engines in several applications and formats. We sell likely more partial replacement assemblies then anyone and we have many completes. DCB is a nice boat. Again thanks for watching[emoji469][emoji1303]

Correct. This is why we have developed upgrades for when they leave the coral so to speak after all warranties etc

it could be that i live down the street from them, but just about every big boat heading to huntington harbor to launch has a pfaff sticker on it somewhere.

So what you're saying is you get exactly what you pay for!

You can get Cheap and Fast, but it wont be good

You certainly do not have to spend Merc money to make a reliable 500 HP-700 HP in a boat. There is nothing magical there.

The resale cost is relative to the initial cost.

Merc money is beyond "not cheap" - it is ludicrous. But so is the resale

It depreciates at the same rate as anything else. You just paid 12X up front :)

Above around 800 HP I agree, the higher you go on the list, there is somewhat less depreciation.

To me what sets Boostpower apart is there willingness to do something different.

To my knowledge all of Teagues motors are whippled and between 850-1450. They may build stuff outside of this range and I just not know about it. Also by no means am I knocking Teague( I would love to have a motor they built up), you don’t get that kind of a reputation without building outstanding motors.

Alexi’s stuff seems much more diverse, 800 CI, compound motors, 3 super chargers, turbos, pro chargers etc. They def seem much more custom to me. Their reputation preceeds them as well. I’m fairly certain if I rolled into any high end boat builder and said I wanted a new boat with some form of BoostPower motors they would be willing to help make it work.

The higher the horsepower the fewer shops that can make it stay together and you pay for that.

As we all know, Speed Cost Money How fast do you want to go.

Thanks. We do like to do different things then others and by all means never want to be a pizza shop doing the same things each day. Of course we have options but we also are involved in so many facets of high performance. So we just love what we do. I always preach that it’s who you get along with, feel the fuzzies with etc that helps choose your provider weather it’s a gasket or pair of engines. [emoji469][emoji1303]
