The wife and I are headed to her parents second home in Whitefish, MT next week. Their house is on WhiteFish Lake and we absolutely love it their.

We had though about moving out there before I was given control of my company. still think about it everyday

Beautiful place!

But (there's always a but), it's in Montana where winters are brutal. So yes, it's a summer home and a beauty.

And it's Montana which is far from everything which is great. But it's far.

I did a bicycle race in 2014 (Tour Divide) that went through Whitefish and Big Fork both. It was June 15th ish when I rode through there. It was 30-32 with freezing rain and slush.

We came into Whitefish on the back side of the lake, coming off of Red Meadow Pass. There was 24 inches of snow on the pass.We post-holed through snow for 6 hours...in June ??? Crazy.

Montana is stunning but the weather is absolutely brutal. Beautiful Home BTW.

The water was only 62.5 today.... Don’t be a Pu**y!!! 🤪

Honestly the only downside. Even when it’s 85 out the water is more or less “refreshing” ahaha!

This is the view of my grandfathers property in Whitefish. He was born and raised there. The biggest piece of shit mobile home sitting on million dollar views. Needless to say he isn’t a big fan of the California hipsters that are buying up everything around him.

Not a bad setup, when I lived in the Flathead Valley we used to boat Flathead lake and golf Eagle Bend. Still miss living there, don’t miss the winters!!

We spend a fair amount of time in the Bitteroot Valley - the winters are relatively mild

Winters mild in Bitteroot Valley 🤔 Sounds like another infamous "Banana Belt" climate anomaly. ;)
About a year ago, my wife's sister and hubby who was from there, relocated to his mom's vacated log home south of Hamilton. In the process of renovating and modernizing it --- but it didn't look that mild going by the pics we got this past winter of wife's sis in the house dressed for the accent on Everest.😂

All relative I suppose. Sure is beautiful country though, from what I've read the much of the TV show Yellowstone is shot not far south of their place. 👍👍

I guess area makes a difference, Flathead Valley was brutal when I lived there, not to far from the Bitteroot area. But a few miles can make a huge difference. I live 30 minutes from the Vegas Strip, yet this was my drive way last winter 😂

I quoted my own post to add these pictures from that race. The date was June 17th. The "be bear aware" picture was Whitefish Divide (pass) and the second is Red Meadow pass directly above Whitefish. Can't believe this was June.

I feel for him, living "THE DREAM" all these years and doing without all the convient things in life for what he has. Not Wanting/Needing Neighbors. Then Shit Hits The Fan.👎

Heading to Flathead Lake in a couple of weeks. Friend has a house on the south end of the lake near Polson. The lake is just amazing. You can leave your boat in all Summer and you will not have a scum line when you pull it out. Serious!

I’m number 34 of cousins in my generation all the rest of them live in Montana as you said it’s fun to visit I will never live there with four to six months of snow it’s just not my deal.
My heritage is on the east side in Choteau

It's really just a matter of perspective, some people can deal with 125* heat and others would rather bundle up and deal with snow and cold. Funny though when it's cold out the snowflakes all go away.... Ironic
