Looooooong time in the making. Change is good. Fresh starts and what not. I think it’ll be a very good thing. There’s other cool stuff going on as well. From what I’m told the team has already moved.

That’s cool for them. I’m sure they made it right for their top guys. I have a tough time filling openings in AZ or anywhere out of So Cal for that matter. Used to be easier with the cost of living. It’s not much cheaper in AZ right now. Current interest rates aren’t making it easier.
Either way, wish them luck. They make a beautiful boat.

I looked it up once while checking out his fleet in the channel one day. Cashed out his business and sold to Scott’s. 😳. Every time i buy a bag of soil i like to think I’m helping support his hobby.

That’s what I think about you every time
I’m in HD.

The few that I talked to recently all seemed happy. I am sure Tony will chime in.

Never been there but from the pics and aerial/street views on google earth, it’s kind of amazing what level of products they have produced out of the facilities they had. One large facility should make things much more efficient and push them to new heights!

They build some amazing boats. I'm really happy the team was willing to make the jump as well...it's a big name, and a good product, but the people that make the product make the name.

I've never met the Spooled Up family. Obviously, drooled over their fleet at my first Desert Storm a few years back. Some people I met that trip said some really good things about them though, and that's stuck with me. It's great to see someone who has an actual love for the hobby have the means to also further the same hobby.

Thumbs up to this. It speaks volumes about the leadership in the company that many CA based employees moved with the company. It shows what kind of culture they have built. Im sure theyre proud of the business and boats they have built, but the culture to carry your employees across state lines in a move like this is the most impressive to me!

It always amazed me that they were building million dollar boats in that shity part of town

Me too. We had a building behind the Evens tire, which is across the street. Left there in 2014 if my memory is correct.

I am willing to bet lunch, that the majority of DCB owners keep the boats out of the state of CA.
They only traveled to CA to build them and then service and update them.
I have no idea. 🤷‍♂️

There were 2 DCB's in the Cays in Coronado when we had a house there.

Let's hope they do well here and their business grows. 👍

500k ++ boats aren't a typical purchase for the average joe in any state. DCB could have set up about anywhere and if they continue to build class leading boats wealthy people from across the country would go where needed to order.

I wager most owners are domiciled out of CA for tax reasons and use/store the boats elsewhere to avoid the luxury tax anyway.

Hahaha thread about a top notch boat builder moving shop and you guys are more concerned about tax savings for the company.

Seems like most of you would be more interested in an interview with DCBs book keeper than a shop tour and guessing at whats coming next.

Haha the comedy here never fails.

Happy to hear the copper state wrangled in another top notch company!

Can you imagine the crying that would ensue here if the margins on DCBs were released? 🤣.

Sailboat manufactures have been leaving California for years. We send lots of parts to Florida and overseas.

Where’d did Catalina go? They used to be in Woodland Hills behind the Home Depot.
