I know sometimes they have some pretty good deal on off season or a few season old stuff. I am not a poctet knife guy but it seems more and more on little projects I always need one and don't really want to carry a Husky box cutter blade/ knife I have in my tool box. I am not looking for a $100 knife or a large bulkly one......more like a $20 one and like 3in or 4in? So do they have any that fit the bill? Frank

I bought a Kershaw from Big 5 about 2 years ago I got on sale for about $25.00. I think it was about 60% regular price at the time. Anyways, I was looking for something for the same reason as you were but didn't want anything big that I would have to take out of my pocket to get my keys or pen out. I found a nice one not to small but still big enough for little projects and to use when needed. Still have it and seems to be made of good quality.

I bought a couple last time I saw them on sale. This one has turned into my do everything knife.
I had a ka-bar I got at the same time. That one walked on me. I prefer the blade on this one though.

With the grammar jokes aside...

Kershaw seems to be a favorite of folks in the economical range. So start there and then look at size and weight etc.

My everyday carry knife has the same blade length (actual sharp edge) as many other knifes but is much more compact all around. I've got enough stuff on my waist an in my pockets my knife needs to be useful but not bulky.

Make sure the blade locks into place for safety reasons and if you think you'd ever use it as a protection weapon then there are other considerations as well.

I always buy blades at big 5. $25-$35 can get you a good Smith & Wesson blade. Last Christmas I bought everyone a blade to keep in your car/truck. Window breaker, seat belt cutter with a nice 4 inch blade. I have one I always carry on me at all times and one I keep in my truck.

The HK knives are made by benchmade not kershaw. But not american benchmade. I had a blade break cutting some plastic box ties.

I had one of the S&W knives from big 5 and it was the biggest piece of shit. It fell apart within a month.

I've had an assisted open kershaw for almost 2 years now. It's solid and has held up great. I use it every day.

Really? I'm going on 2 years on my s&w blade and it's been a champ. It worked great as a boat knife too. Never had a problem.

Yeah. Maybe a bad batch if there is such a thing with knives. I had to tighten all the screws every couple days. Specially on the clip. The window breaker was garbage. I hit a window with it and it wrecked the point. Didn't even break the window. The blade itself was okay but the rest was shit.

Didn't know that

I usually buy $100-$150 at Xmas time for impromptu gifts throughout the year. I am looking at one I have left over.

Best EDC I've ever owned for under $30 is a Gerber serrated Ripstop. Thought it was a fugly knife, but it's really thin and stays in my shorts 24/7, even at bedtime since I don't notice it's there. The only thing missing from the knife is a windshield rivet.

I would also like to see the knife in a Tanto blade, too. Then it would be perfect.

Gerber makes a good blade. My wife needed a multi-tool and requested a Gerber.

I did my homework and bought her a SOG. ;) :D

Im also a fan of the Tanto.

My everyday carry for years. Used to be like 80 bucks until Amazon.

Light and slim but 3.25 inch blade. Only 33 bucks now. I bought them for my kids now so they have what I have.

Looks like I was wrong on the manufacturer.
It is made by Benchmade. Personally, for the price, I think they are very nice pieces. Worth a look

Big 5 is way over priced on their knives and crappy selection IMHO.
