OK, we are moving and our Seal Beach house has built in refrigerator and freezer. The new house does not. It has the standard 36"ish x 70" ish opening.

What say the brain trust. I have been looking but they are all over the map. I think GE is solid. I don't think I want all the tech like Samsung where it tells you what you need and will send it to your phone ect. I have also heard that parts go bad on the Samsung and LG fairly often but have no experience with it. My fridge now I have had for 8 years and no issues. Looking for the same reliability.
Had the monster 36 ft Samsung and a 33ft Samsung. Both had issues with the ice makers and slow as molasses. Have an LG now for 5 years and no issues other than it makes loud knocking noises that sometimes freak ya out in the middle of the night but, works good and keeps everything cold at 36 degrees 24/7.

Here is what I notice about today's new refrigerators....

If they were being used in a restaurant...they would get cited for violations of the health code. Specifically, that the vegetable/fruits are stored below raw meats. I have the samsung pictured and it does not conform to the health code. Maybe they never have in the past and these are no different, but if the health department won't let this fly in a restaurant, why would I want to go there at home.

Health dept doesn't allow animals on premise with food, either.

I’m also going to be upgrading the fridge soon. I think we are going to go for Maytag/ Whirlpool/GE. Wife works for a home warranty company and says no LG or Samsung cause they are her biggest issue brands. Un-available or backordered parts, and appliance repair guys who won’t even work on them.

FWIW. We have a 7 year old Samsung, french door refrigerator with the in door ice /water dispenser. Upper ice maker frozen solid. Read online that Samsung was replacing all of the defective ice makers free of charge regardless of warranty status. Called Samsung, gave them the model/serial number and told them the upper ice maker was frozen solid. Samsung tech came out yesterday and replaced the entire upper ice maker with a redesigned version no charge. Tech also suggested always using a OE Samsung water cartridge filter. Said the aftermarket filters have a tendency to leak, water pools below the lower drawer adding to the frost issue. YMMV.
