I've never stayed at the golden nugget but info go inside once a trip for Starbucks. I've stayed at the Aquarius several times. If I want somewhere decent it's Aquarius somewhere cheap edge water. Something for dogs pioneer

And the salt grass steakhouse is the best! Great drinks too, the Kentucky smash and corona Rita are definitely worth the trip!

I like gambling at riverside.

Aquarius. The Pioneer restuarant has a full rack of actually smoked ribs for $20 with 2 sides. Enough food for two

Pioneer riverfront sweet is our favorite. And we have stayed at all of them. But we are pretty simple people.

aquarius and harrahs. Aquarius is cheaper therefore gets the nod. There isnt a good place in laughlin. Its just somewhere to rest for a couple hrs. Once you have that mindset you can stay almost anywhere and im sure most of us have woke up in some awful places.

It's funny to read all these comments. I've always loved Laughlin. I would go to Laughlin over Vegas any day. I guess it all depends on what you like to do. I've never stayed at a hotel in havasu but after reading all the comments I'm expecting quite a bit [emoji4]

Actually I think of it like looking for the best horse in the Glue Factory :rolleyes
That's my exact thoughts when going to The Rose Parade... lol

We've been to them all and my favorite is The Golden Nugget. It's typically more expensive than the rest (only 300 rooms) but it has less rift raft and out of control kids running down the hallways at all hours of the night...

I like Laughlin, but the thing to remember is, no matter where you stay all the river people kind of screw up the rooms.:D

Laughlin's an acquired love, I don't think it's love at first sight ....lol .... I will take it over Vegas too. Started going more regularly since I bought a house in Havasu a few years ago, usually stay at the Edgewater .... not the nicest but they really take care you, we go to many of the concerts there and its been great:thumbsup

Besides all the fine dining and casino life the one thing that is overlooked during monsoon season is the slope of the parking lot. The Golden Nugget boat parking lot has the steepest slope of them all. It may be meaningless to most but that slope is your best friend. Simply park your boat with the stern on the downhill slope and pull your drain plug if you forgot to do so at the launch ramp. Rest assured when your enjoying that great night sleeping in that comfy bed your engine won't be under water when getting out to your boat the next morning...

We made our first trip to Laughlin around 1991. Those were the good Ole days, lol. We've stayed up and down the little strip and I'd agree that Harrahs, Golden Nugget and Aquarius are the better properties in Laughlin.
That being said, there are some great places not mentioned. The beds at the Edgewater were all replaced a couple years ago and in my opinion you wont have a better nights sleep than at the Edge. Best buffet, is at the Tropicana and it's also the most lively on a weekend night, the tables, the nightlife, just a great vibe.
My personal preference and I've come full circle is, believe it or not, The Riverside. Before I get laughed off the boards consider this. Where can you go in todays world and meet the man a town is named after. I often run into Don Laughlin in the casino in the wee early morning hours. He favors the non smoking gaming area. It's a trip, he'll stop and chat with you, he's a character. Then, for boating, and yes you can boat all the way down to Havasu and London Bridge from here. The drill is to make sure the dam is flowing 4 units or more before you leave your dockside moorage. I've included a couple of pics, one os of the flow charts. google "Davis dam water flows". This is from today. The flow starts out at 2-3 units in the morning. In spring they flow 4 units by 10:00 or 11:00 a.m and 5 units by 1:00. You're good to go all the way down, just read the river. The other pic is of my boat this memorial day at the dock. The inside dock only is for public use, I'm in the middle, pic taken from 16th floor up.
I haven't even mentioned the Losers Loungem best people watching since Sundance in the 80's. Live bands 7 days a week.
We launch Thursday late afternoon and leave the boat in the water all weekend, can see if from the room and nobody has ever touched any of my boats when tied up.

Good info, We used to do a lot of Laughlin weekends and boat at Mohave. I have never launched my current boat on that section of the river but back in the day we used to launch an old jet boat I had at the Riverside launch ramp and boat down to Avi and back.

Have you ever driven your boat (IO) from Laughlin to Havasu? How long of a ride? Furthest I have gone is from Havasu up to the white pipeline that crosses the river- you can see it from river road cut off. Cool boat ride with some good beaches along the way but it also gets a bit dicey unless you know the river.

We do the drive to London Bridge almost every weekend we're there. I do it in that 23' Sleekcraft with a Bravo 1. The water seems to be higher earlier in the season in April, May. They'll be flowing 4 units by 10 and 5 in the early afternoon. That being said, you will lose outdrive parts at 3 units and I don't recommend this tour for the newbie. 2 years ago after a major storm in September I lost 3 props after the river bottom was rearranged after the storm.
To me, this is one of the best boating trips you can do, anywhere. Racing the sun back from London Bridge is inspiring. 6:00 p.m. is about the latest we'll leave the bridge area. We did it twice this Memorial weekend.

We prefer staying at The Riverside also. It's nice to have other stuff to do besides gambling. Take in a movie, bowl a couple of games or take a stroll through the old cars. The losers lounge never dissappoints :)

Don't forget to eat at the Gourmet Room in the Riverside. It will only run you about $15.00 more per person than outback and the setting is phenomenal for that area.

Just came back from Laughlin , stayed at the Edgewater, like the sports book , ate at Pints in the Colorado bell it was good, but the cigarette smoke is awful in all those low ceiling casinos emoji100][emoji100][emoji100]

It's run down because people don't go there. The River Palms was sold for a mere 6 million a couple years ago, we could of bought it for that and had River Daves Casino for that price. The Aquarius was adding a new pool and deck party area this summer, should be ready in a few months. Personally, selfishly, I'm glad it's stayed small and reasonably priced. Pirates is a perfect example of the Disneyland/Vegas hand in your pocket operator. As soon as someone figures out a way to dredge or uniformly correct the river bottom Laughlin is gonna blow up. It may take 10 or 20 years, but Imagine the commerce and recreation opportunities if the average Joe could or would make that trip any time they wanted. I am curious as to why nobody has build a Blue Water type of resort in Laughlin. It's almost as if they don't want the true boating community and would rather cater to Sea-Doo rentals and the carnage that brings every season.
I don't think Laughlin has peaked yet and that's ok by me, I'll keep enjoying her for what she is!

Personally I'm also glad it never blew up or turned into vegas. I have to disagree on nobody going there. The last few seasons have been crazy. To be point were you can't find rooms at hotels last minute. Especially when there's a big show like kid rock. They were working on the old river palms when I left Tuesday curious to see what they do w it.

Back in the early 80's the casinos were screwed together trailers, use to go up in evening for dinner after sliming in Havasu.
