You gotta live by different rules when you make millions in the NFL. So what, stay out of night clubs, live a boring live for 10 years and make a shit load of money then do what you want after.

Poor choices, plain and simple.

If someone brings enough to the table they will trade him.

i will get the official rdp report on the subject since i'll be in the burgh this friday for a week+. :D he WAS a godsend to the fans and the city, but now that has all changed. it is the talk of the town (as the steelers usually are) and alot of people are disgusted, at least everyone i know there is. a helmetless motorcycle crash and 2 raped chicks enough is enough. lets go pens!

He's guilty of being a douche bag and being present while his crew gets underage co-eds boozed-up :thumbsdown

While I don't think we should look to athletes as role models, it's tough to look the other way when it's all over the media. It would be tough for me to remain a fan, if I were a Steelers fan and had daughters that were exposed to the stories in the media. How do you reconcile that when they ask "what do you think, dad?"

DA said he would not take it to trial, partly because the alleged "victim" and her family refused to cooperate...They did not want to be in the spotlight....DA said there was plenty of evidence and witnesses to go forward.

Jackpot! Six games at $470K/game should get his attention. The Commish said it could be extended if he doesn't "comply" with the Leagues conditions.

Steelers may look to trade him for a first round draft pick and start working on a new QB

I've always driven a shopworn Toyota, and I'd wager I'm right in there with the ugly guys on this board, most garages are bigger than my whole house,,, and I've had no issues meeting chix.

With all his fame, and connections and money why would he commit actions like that?
Must be a real tool in real life.

I doubt he has any trouble pulling women. Perhaps, his status and ego lead him to make stupid decisions on that front. Also, we can't rule out money hungry conniving whores.

In either case, he's a moron for allowing himself to be caught in that situation. :thumbsdown

Being suspended for a few Football Games is getting off easy what could have happened. That DA wanted him bad just felt could not hit a Home Run,but listening to him in his mind there was no doubt a crime happened.

NFL players get paid 1/16th of thier annual salary after each game. You can't play (other than due to football related injury) you don't get paid.

I don't know what he's paid, but lets say he gets $16 million per year, he could loose $4 to $6 million.

That's an expensive little romp in the bathroom with a co-ed.....

It's not "guaranteed" if you're suspended......

True, it's pro-rated on a per-game basis.
And the money he loses will hurt, but not too much.

We can trhow his $102 million contract out the window, because no one in the NFL plays out their entire contract.

But he did get a signing bonus - cash money when signed - of over $25 million. Plus you add in between $8 million - $10 million per season on top of that.

So he's doing alright.
But fecking aye...for that kind of cash I'd be in bed when the damned street lights come on.

Gotta love the court of "RiverDaves" all the jack holes saying he is guilty, yet they are the first ones to cry about the legal system not doing their job!!

Come on people...no crime, no time!!

The point was and is how can the commissioner hand down a penalty for a crime that didnt happen??

I see you`re back to the DOUCHE BAG terminology in expressing feelings!!

He is Lucky,he violated NFL policy the Comissioner has total control over.

He has been warned and does not get it.

The Steelers are looking to dump him, there is a reason? There is more to this than is out.

I feel he could have been banned from the League.

He has to have his bodyguards pick up drunks to screw? LOSER!!

The Team,Fans, and maybe the League do Not want this around.

He is not contesting the decision and is cooperating,He Knows what everyone else knows=GUILTY.:thumbsdown

The league has a lot of authority in matters that concern public perception.

But how is this different from everyday life?

If you show up drunk at work, you can get fired even though no crime has been committed.

If you fuck up at work, your boss can send you home...and if you're paid hourly, you lose out on pay.

Fact is, even outside of football, employers can punish workers, including withholding pay by keeping you off the clock.

In the case of the NFL, the commissioner has a lot of authority granted to him. You play in the league, you accept the authority he has been given.

If this was the NFL, Riverdave would have suspended your a$$ a long time ago for violation of the personal conduct policy!....that's how the NFL does it. :)

The league was very careful to make this suspension a CUBO deal-conduct unbecoming.
That is fine, they do have the right and juice to do that.
The DA did not file, so this is just another one of those topics for BS sessions around the country.
I am a Steeler fan for 35 years. I detect a wee bit of sour grapes here from some folks who just don't like success.
That said, Ben needs his ass whooped big time. He needs something to happen to square him up and get his focus focused on football. Perhaps some bench time will help. Success came more quickly for him than he was prepared to handle, which ain't uncommon in pro sports. (Ever hear of Tiger Woods, Michael Vick, etc)
I don't think The Rooneys will send him packing just yet. They will want to get it written in blood that it is an even-steven trade, and a fisrt round draft pick isn't going to cut it unless there is a QB foating around that they know is skilled and they can reach. They will give him one more wake up call, imho. when he comes back from this suspension he better be in shape, and focused like a lazer ready to play. And, he better win, regularly. Nothing earns forgiveness from sports fans like humility and winning, in large regular doses.
If they do trade him, Rooney is smart enough not to trade him to an AFC team, I think.

Your the only jack-hole for not seeing the obvious. The commish saw a pattern of behavior that he doesn't want in the NFL. It's not Ben's right to play in the NFL, it's a privledge(sp). Who said there was no crime committed? The officer who took the initial report has since resigned due to his many f-ups and the D.A. may still in the future charge him, as of now they are choosing not to file charges.

Not sure if Ben will learn a lesson or not but he's got to realize he can't scramble out of all these acusations easily any longer.
