His Dad Dr. Beebe. Yea the girls our my step daughters. Lee owned the place in Marina Manor but he has since passed, pretty sure its still in family.
I think the place, it's in Marina View, is still in his family?
My parents bought lot the '70s and put a tailer on it. It was always a rental for them.

Class of 76 Jordan. Downey & Candlewood

Loved the hot water channel stopped skiing L.A. river after getting hepatitis

Lotta debris to dodge in the river. Saw a VW bug floating by once. We were there the day that kid was decapitated by a ski rope, we didn't see it happen though.
Decades later one of the girls who swam with our daughter at Wilson, her dad was a long time LB lifeguard. He'd been driving one of the boats forever. Asked if he'd heard of that decapitation and he said 'ya, I was the rookie guard then and it was his job to find the guys head'. This was probably '82.

I spend alot of time down there. most of my family grew up in belmont and the peninsula. My uncle owns anchor marine canvas there in the long beach shipyard. Got to take a few of my buddies wakesurfing this weekend for the first time and they had a blast!

I lived at 50 Granada Ave for a dozen years, about 10 of those with my wife.

They raised my rent one time in 12 years…i only paid $1750 for the large 2 BR ground unit.

Good times and great stories… but toward the end of our stay, the panhandlers and petty crime was getting unbearable.

Ripples Bar - There's always been a gay element in Belmont Shore. But, they were never a problem when we lived there. In fact, we have friends who purchased some properties and rented them out. They were quick to say gays were typically the best renters. Kept their places in great condition and paid their rent on time. My wife and her best friend, a former Miss Calif, always wanted us to take them into Ripples. It never happened. The patrons weren't bothering us. No reason we shouldn't do the same for them.

When I lived in Seal Beach (1980-1983) I had a good friend that lived at 5351 Paoli Way. Had a lot of good times at that house being it faces Marine Stadium.

Please tell me you're joking? Wakesurfing in Marine Stadium? Noooo! Go over by the oil islands, don't ruin the only good flat water. 😡😡😡😡😡😡😡

We lived at 5391 Ocean. Here’s a recent photo of the front. The place looked exactly the same when we lived there nearly 50 years ago. We had the entire ground floor and dedicated parking.

"dedicated parking" That's definitely a thing of the past. I remember in the mid 80's talking to someone in the San Gabriel Valley about parking. He was renting a one bedroom and had to buy a street parking permit. I asked why and he said that the one-car garage would have cost an additional $150 a month and a permit to park overnight on the street only cost $64 per year.

I have skied most my life, so I get the "good water", as a matter of fact, I didn't start until everyone was long done just for that reason and I'm in a ski boat with the exact same wake pretty much, but there was 2 surf boats kicking up rollers all day so it didn't really matter.

Pretty sure after they’re done doing whatever they’re doing to prepare it for the Olympics, it’s going to “passive use only”…I saw it posted somewhere.

There was some big air nautiques throwing some crazy wakes on saturday! my boat is a ski boat and i wasnt running any ballast bags, my wake is pretty small but we always try to be respectful and not blow out the water for the other riders! I only ride wakeboard for the most part i just got a couple buddies up for the first time on the surf board before they try the wakeboard.

Can anyone shed some light on the passive use plan? When are they planning to put that into effect?

Dated a girl in Belmont Shores in the 90's. She and her room mate's danced at Captain Creams in Lake Forest. I used to pick them up at 2am in my 1991 regular cab chevy truck and had nothing but boobs across the bench seat. We would go to Dennys in Irvine after then back to their Apartment and spent many nights sleeping on the couch and enjoying the view of them walking around in the am in their undies. The good old days!!!

I have pics somewhere of that madness, I need to go dig them up!!!
Captain Creams.... my first lap dance! Such a great spot of a bygone era

Play hard and ski hard. Inside the breakwater or in Marine Stadium. Then dinner at Noel’s. If we were fat on $$, maybe even the Chart House in the Marina. Salad was made at your table. But, Noel’s was THE place to go. Hell, we’d been getting served there since we were teenagers. And their food was outstanding and cheaper than the other locals.

Girl friend of my wife’s was once sitting at Legends and talking with the guy next to her, who happened to be black. After a while he said to her, You don’t know who I am, do you. She replied , do you play volleyball? It was Eric Dickerson, running back for the Rams. Pissed him off.

Joe Namath lived next door to me on The Peninsula, 59th Pl., when he played for The Rams. He would have parties at his place with some of his teammates and lots of women.

I thought so. I was just hoping he wasn’t the one on RDP. Too bad the girl on the left wasn’t the new Mayor. She would have made LB a better city.
