The Ponds circa 1986
30 years we've had a place. Mom lived out there. It's on the market now. At 80 years old it was time to get her closer to homeI've always wondered why as well, looked a fun place to play around on a stand-up.
You got a place in GS?
I rember guys wind surfing, we gave respect and would not ski where they were surfing the wind was wicked. But the ponds were semi sheltered, shallow, and pretty narrow so even with the wind we had great water for the skis. The Ponds circa 1986

Lake Jody is a fun place. In 1992, we bought a house on Lake Jodie, which is right on Newberry Road across from Big Al's Pistachio Farms
Funny I was just pointing that out last weekend to my girlfriend on the way to Laughlin, one time back in the early 90's my buddy and I were towing our jetskis home from Havasu and they were riding in there so we got off and pulled up to the gate trying to get them to let us ride. They said no go it's private.Digging up an old thread but we've been making a trip a week to Topock and keep driving by the "Jet Ski lake" East of Barstow on the South side of the freeway, who knows what happened or who owned it? I remember as late as the 2000's water being there and skis in the water then poof it just went away.
Another place was Palm Springs at the wind mills we would ski in the ponds out there in the 80's and 90's
Any one else?? I'll dig up some pictures from Palm Springs, we skied there every weekend through the summer.

I almost bought a house in 2003 on the lake in Yermo near the agricultural checkpoint.
1700 Square ft house and 1400 square ft garage for $140K fully furnished right next to the boat ramp.
At the time the lake was filled with carp. Seems the HOA paid to have someone stock the lake and the guy filled it with carp.
Deal fell through with my so called "buddy".

There is another cool lake outside of Plaster City near El Centro on the 8 freeway.
Perfect ski lake, and I guess they've held some college waterski championships on it.
Its a gated community so never got a chance to go in but some killer houses inside.

I just searched the yuma/ newberry springs area between the 15 ands 40, there must be 10 private lake communities out there.I almost bought a house in 2003 on the lake in Yermo near the agricultural checkpoint.

Same little cove area I almost moved to. It was a fun little lake. We would do a lot of testing there when we raced jetskis. One side of the garage opened up to the lake. Made it easy to wrench on our skis. That’s the lake my in laws owned a house on when they owned lake Delores. Used to ride around on the seadoos on it. Kinda cool set up.
They owned here. Would’ve been from
Like 99 to 2008ish.

Cool story, it looked 100% private like someone's backyard, I always laid on the horn when we saw guys ripping it. We bough skis in 85 and rode probably into the early 2000's.That was called Jack Lake. The owner (Jack) lived a few doors up from one of my best friends growing up in Upland. He had a small second home on the property with a large barn full of dirt bikes, atv ans skis.
Before we were 21, we used to score a couple 30 packs run up there and ride our skis around the little lake and sleep in the beds of our trucks.
Jack would make us pull reeds to earn our riding/camping privileges. The entire lake /pond was maybe shoulder deep. We had some good times up there. Almost every time I pass by I get sad seeing it empty. Nothing like ripping around the back and getting smacked in the arms and face by reeds! lol
Last time I went was around 2005 and the owner was telling us that he was struggling trying to hang on to the water rights. I’m pretty sure he lost them a few years later.
