I've herd the roomer as well, the 240 bottom was changed for the 255 and the deck was destroyed..... But what do I know, I'm newer to the Hallett brand...

What I did feel is that Jerry wasn't the greatest sales person and a bit of an ass on the 1/2 dozen times I've talked to him.....His sister on the other hand seems like a great person and would talk all day at the old location off the 605.....Always thought they could sell more if Jerry wasn't in the front and behind the scenes. Maybe I have the wrong impression of him. But I do wish him luck and anxious to see what he comes up with.
you hit it he is not nick

Agreed. But someone told them to do it and they're finally taking his advice which should explode the market!!!

All kidding aside, they have a purpose for the east coast where you go offshore with many people. You don't need them for Havasu as you're not offshore with swells and they're less functional than pontoons except for the speed of getting to copper canyon? Why would you want a CC in the channel? Less of a party platform. In regards to the ocean here, you can only go to Catalina so many times before you're burned out.

The really cool CCs are the giant ones which you don't need in Havasu. I walked on some of the "non performance" CCs at the boat show and although nice and roomy, there's just more functional boats for our here....unless you're a fisherman.

Pretty spot on comment.....i think they will sell a few though to the multiple boat owner class.

I was ready to buy until I spoke to Jerry, I thought he was a entitled a hole. I thank Hallett was a well built boat and kept there resale.

If Jimmy is still there to build and Gelcoater is there to paint you are back in biz...with more capital from the sale to work with.
How cool is that?
I wonder what ever happened to the 54 footer?
I don't know if Jim is part of this new venture or not?
I suspect Jerry will employ the Hallett laminators.
I spoke with him briefly last week on the phone.
Since the cat it out of the bag I can say he told me tooling should be done in about 6 weeks on...something;)
I'm absolutely looking forward to making a mess of his spray booth, :D although I wish he would have moved out to the IE. The drive to Irwindale sucks.

I started spraying for Hallett in 08
I dealt with Jerry about 99% of the time as far as scheduling, billing, etc.

He made it pretty easy to work there. Organized, stocked and ready to roll.
He knows what it takes, what suppliers to use, etc.
I know Jim was a big part of that process as well so I hope he's a part of this new venture. Looking forward to seeing what Jerry has up his sleeve.

I totally agree. The center console we build are family fishing platforms. If local buyers wanted hot rod center consoles:
Nortech
Midnight
Statement
Concept
Renegade
Sunsation would have 1 dealer out west. None of them do. Nothing beats a deckboat for our boating.

Anything is possible, but...

I'm pretty sure Jim will not be around on this deal. We talked at length before Hallett closed.

Let's go to lunch when you make your way over here, surprisingly, there are a couple good places in this part of town! :p

My 2 cents is I don’t understand the hype over a center console. I wouldn’t choose that layout over what’s out there now. I don’t think they would sell like some think.

best of all worlds in my opinion...seats more people than a pontoon or deck...hauls ass...has a canopy to get out of the sun...can take in the ocean....and personally i just love the way they look.

Only thing I'd add is a small cabin in the bow like luckystrike.

I bet if 2-3 of them broke off the average deck boat in good water and walked away in snotty water people would change their feelings.

Only other issue I see is shading and seating the whole crew comfortably. West coast boats seem to be built for floating with passengers seated.

Too bad Jim isn't going to be a part.
He'd be a valuable asset.

My 24 yo son likes to wakeboard......and fish!
Every weekend when not on our boat he's out with his buddies in the Pacific fishing on someone's
Boston Whaler or a CC or dedicated fishing boats....He does not even comprehend
the attraction to so-called go-fast custom boats....Ha where did I go wrong? :)

What's everybody's thoughts on the look of the Hallett Deck Boat? I was hanging out in pirates cove a few times last summer and saw a couple of Halley decks cruise by in the channel. My first thought was Ebtide must me entering the custom boat market then as they got closer I could see they were Halletts. IMO I mean the gel looked nice but the over all shape of the boat especially the nose just did not look right. Thoughts?

Spending a day is one thing, having it as a full time boat is another. I just don't think the functionality fits the usage of west coast boating.

Again, it's cool to ride on one but I don't see you spending any money on one. And the people I'm talking to are generally spending the money to build them.

The 260 and first gen 285 were pretty ugly. The 285 is not bad, but I would be all over a Howard sport deck if I was in the deck market. Next would be the Nordic, then the Hallett.

I may be biased but if I were going to build a deck boat the 285 is the one I'd build.
It's tall. It would fit my needs and wants best. (Emphasis on my)
There's no denying that bottom works well.
Check out the performance evaluations on the front page.
The 285 out accelerated the other deck boats. And did so with less HP.
No it didn't run the top end numbers of the others. But again, it didn't have the power the others did.
I guess everyone's idea of fun is different. Sustained 80mph in any boat with the family on board isn't mine.

.
Maybe if one thinks of west coast boating as Havasu?
A boat that will do Havasu, Mead etc, tow a skier, wake boarder, and hit Catalina, or harbor hopping in the ocean, and be able to fish off it...
Doesn't sound like it fits at all. :D

How would you rate the rough water capability? I never see decks far up the lake at Mead. Usually they stay by Temple Bar or down by Rotary. I have been caught in everything Mead can throw at you in our old 27 and in my 210. Kept the bow up no water over the front. Our 335 I have not been out in the rough yet. It should be a wave crusher though.

You don’t see me spending any $$ on one “yet.” Lol I can assure you that is absolutely the direction Inak

I’d love to see what Jerry is building.. but my criteria would be 28-33’ preferably wide beam, with a front cabin.

I’d love an Intrepid or that style of CC.

I’d like to be able to pull it around town and launch it with a 1/2 ton.

Direction. Noted. Two weeks? Two years? Two decades? Easy to say when you're not quite ready. Hope you get whatever it is someday.

Kinda depends on some external factors as I’m sure you can figure, but I’d guess we will be looking before the end of summer.

I would just like to see some rework on other models. Needing the teak floor replaced eventually.

Should have some updated news on Barron Boats early next week, maybe a rendering or two. Progress definitely moving right along. The 29 deck will be first.

Any chance in the future doing some teak flooring work?

I’m glad Jerry didn’t hang up his hat and look forward to seeing what he comes out with.

Four months isn’t enough time to tool one model let alone four.. I’m wondering which boats he is using?
He is starting from scratch, the first one is in process and the next will follow, no copy cat shit!
