I know some here know the backstory, as do I. I have been watching this since day 1 essentially, and I believe Dave posted it in one of the other fraud threads, but the hammer will drop this week. So the questions is raised..... Is this an opportunity to put together a decent capsule boat (which I would love to own here in the PNW!!) or is this a great opportunity to max out a few CC's chasing a dream that will never be worth a dollar? What power is needed? Obviously needs 6s. Can a guy have a running/driving boat for another $200K after buying it at auction?

Message the previous owner and ask how much for the drives and engines?

If you plan on buying new. I would think 450k after purchasing. And that doesn't include re wrapping it.

You could prob have it going for another 200k between drives and some big N/A motors merc 1350s I don’t think you’ll be at your price point but a reputable builder such as gt may be able to get you there.

You could get that on the water again for 200k for sure. But not with turbo power. Used power, yes. I hear it has some structural issues that will need to be addressed as well.

glass work 15k - 20k
gauges / throttles 15k
New interior in cocpit including making it more
User friendly. 15k
All Rigging (hoses, electrical etc etc) 15k
Used 500EFI motors - 30k pair
Used 496 HO Motors - 20k pair
Used 525EFI motors - 40k pair
Used 700SCI motors - 60-75k pair
Uses bravo XR’s - 20 - 25k pair
Rebuilt bravo 1’s - 10-15k pair
Used NXT’s - 40-50k pair
Used dry sump SSM 6’s - 50-60k pair
Used SSM 3A’s - 20-25k a pair
Pay for shop labor to complete this thing would be a minimum of 20k plus.

The only way I can see this working for me at least, would be some good (hopefully) used TCM power (or maybe a pair of rebuilt 1075s) and put 6s back on it. I think 850 a side is a minimum in my eyes but I think its going to take 1K HP to really make a guy happy (at least me).

Sure hope that used XR number is accurate 😁

Buddy has a set of Teague 850SC’s he’d let go of. If you get it and want the info, let me
Know.

Mikey had a good run, until he didn’t. I didn’t think he was still “unavailable”.

I need a better group of friends...I could probably scrounge up a couple of 454's...TBI's maybe 🤣

They’re actually older carb’d motors he took out of a 42 fountain he repowered. Teague sold a bunch of those motors. Known a few people that had them or a variation of them. Pretty reliable.

Edit: Just talked to him. They’re Teague 800SC’s 100 hours. 15k each. FANTASTIC motors.

I'd cap the drive holes, grab a lil generator for the stereo and get a sea-tow membership so they could tow me to the dock at Roadrunner where I would sit and look baller. 👍 You Havasu bums could do the same beached in the channel, much cooler than the floating patio rentals

just drop a pair of junkyard LS and a couple Alpha1 drives and make it a channel cruiser.

It doesn’t need to be the fastest thing on the water, but enough to get it on plane in a couple Soccer fields.
I think there’s a price point that works, if you have the means to cover the fun using it.

A couple of duffy power plants and it would be a killer harbor cruiser.
Stack about 15 Minnkotas on the back, and consider it an outboard boat. He'll have the most outboards strapped to one boat in the country🤷🏻‍♂️🤣🤣

Maybe a couple in front for bow thrusters🤔

With 750hp a side that boat will
Run 115 plusI bet.

Pleasure version with 1075’s will
Do 150. This is a lighter layup.

This is my thoughts nearly exactly. I want to cruise in the 115 area and not be on the limiters the whole time to do it.

Yep. I get it. But do you want ta be all in under 300k? Over 1k hp a side is gonna suck most of that up.

I saw some factory billet motors for sale for $250k or something around that. Think they were 2.5k hp a piece

Hahaha. My power is juuuuust fine at 1k a side. I don’t need to push that hull any faster than it is. Plus, I’ve always felt over 1k hp is the crossing line into the problem Zone.

Im fucking clueless when it comes to boats like this but it seems like it would only be worth it to some one that has the "hook ups" or comes from the racing background or has big HP parts laying around. I couldnt imagine a buyer buying it and dropping it off to a shop and say can you "make iit work"

I know the auction isn't over but I still think it will go for a good deal. The enclosed boats always seem to bring less money.

I'd have to keep the coyote on the top if it were me.

I don’t see how that’s not a 400k money pit.
And years worth of headaches getting it ready to go.

Be easier to go spend 300-400k and go boating tomorrow.

You couldn't buy a capsule boat of that caliber ready to "go boating" for anywhere near $300-$400K!

No but you could buy a bad ass boat for that much.

The OP has been there, done that. Has had a few cats all north of 100mph, has a 115mph+ jet bote. This is just the next thing on his bucket list. I'm not saying he's not dumb because he definitely is that! And he likes boys🤣🤣

It all boils down to one thing.. "When a hobby becomes an addiction!"

My prediction

Boat will sell for 110k
Boat will cost you another 275k to get back to 90% where you want it.

I say go for it, want to know if I’m close. Lol
