"FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried arrested in Bahamas

According to a statement shared by the Bahamian Office of the Attorney General & Ministry of Legal Affairs, the Royal Bahamas Police detained Bankman-Fried following receipt of formal notification from the United States it has filed criminal charges against the fallen crypto billionaire.

The Attorney General said it will hold Bankman-Fried in custody pursuant to the Bahamas' extradition treaty. The U.S government's extradition treaty with the Bahamas lets the U.S. extradite defendants for charges involving offenses that are crimes in both countries.

"Earlier this evening, Bahamian authorities arrested Samuel Bankman-Fried at the request of the U.S. Government, based on a sealed indictment filed by the SDNY," Damian Williams, U.S. Attorney for the Souther District of New York said in a statement. "We expect to move to unseal the indictment in the morning and will have more to say at that time."

"The Bahamas and the United States have a shared interest in holding accountable all individuals associated with FTX who may have betrayed the public trust and broken the law," Bahamas Prime Minister Philip Davis said in a statement.

"While the United States is pursuing its own criminal charges against SBF individually, The Bahamas will continue its own regulatory and criminal investigations into the FTX collapse, with continued cooperations of its law enforcement and regulatory partners in the United States and elsewhere."

A spokesman for the U.S Attorney’s Office, Southern District of New York declined to comment further on the criminal investigation.

Separately, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission has authorized charges related to Bankman-Fried’s violation of securities laws set to be unsealed tomorrow, according to a statement from the SEC."

O'Leary has lost a lot of money and there's no doubt he has taken a credibility hit. He was being asked some pointed questions. I think his supposition that a forensic audit will reveal what actually happened is misguided.

That is a good interview, I like that they didn’t let him spew his bullshit and accept it and if Leary addresses it the way he says he’s going to he can save face. If he doesn’t he loses all credibility.

At least O’Leary admits he’s an idiot, lol 😂
Thats Bankmans angle too. Act dumb like they had no clue this would happen. "I [They] didn't see it." Two of the sharpest, most successful financials guys that ever lived pleading dumb. Complete bullshit.

That $15 million Bankman gave him to encourage others to invest was the other people's money he claims he had nothing to do with.

The exchange about guilt and innocence at the end is telling.

I don't think there will be anything earth shattering here, my guess is this is a Madoff size ponzi scheme. There is a second ledger out there somewhere.

O'Leary made his money as an employee with stock options and cashed out. As an investor, he doesn't have a great track record.

A bunch of people spend billions buying “coins” backed by the full faith and credit of nothing, deposit and trade them on a made up “exchange”, and then are surprised they lost billions.

I don’t get how any one is surprised?

When you deposit your assets with any third party you're surrendering all control of them. Bitcoin itself is backed by energy, since it uses the "Proof of Work" model to produce it's native token, or a single unit of the asset. So you could say the fair market value of a single bitcoin is your cost of electricity to produce one.

Anyone interested in cryptocurrency needs to practice self-custody and use a hardware wallet. Not your keys, not your coin.

FTX was a casino where people would go to gamble. SBF eventually fucked around and found out that he and his girlfriend were bad at gambling with the actual cash that people deposited in exchange for their casino's chips. Once people started to cash their chips in, the vault ran dry really quick.

This whole story has little to do with crypto and more to do with drugs and thieves.

Great book, "The Bitcoin Standard":

There are those idiots. Then there are people who invest in this and know that you cannot keep the "coins" or funds on a centralized exchange.

O’Leary was paid $15 million to be a shill and claims he “lost” $9.7 million on his investment. Good question by Joe. Doesn’t look like he “lost” anything and was paid net out of others peoples money. Par for the course with this creep.

“Slime ball” doesn’t even come close to describing this POS.

They are talking about the possibility of clawing back all the donations SBF made to the Democratic Party in his bankruptcy hearing. That would f*cking amazing.

There was an interview on youtube where Sbf was whining he only had about 100k in his bank account. More than some of the people who he swindled.

It’s funny, some of these rocket scientist politicians have said they donated their tainted FTX contribution money to a charity of their choice. Will be interesting to see if the BK trustee prevails in clawing the money back, now what are you going to do, rocket scientist?

I have a feeling he will end up dead in the near future. I think there is more to the story then what even the conspiracy theorists are talking about.

I think he will be lauded as some kind of hero that just got it wrong. The dude paid off nearly everyone.

Look at what has happened to date. If he was gonna be dead.. he'd be dead already.

Despite what spin the media puts in it, this was not just an accident made by innocent people who meant to do the right thing.

This was a highly leveraged, engineered ponzi scheme that relied on crypto value increasing to infinity…there’s no dividend, no way for crypto to pay interest beyond using new investor money to pay existing investors.

Becky Quicks comments at the end are a sharp observation of how Bankman is rolling on this. She's one of those moms when the kids try and hide a fuck up, she gets to WTF happened real fast,,,,,, and you don't dare talk back to:

While I find Maxine Waters to be a despicable human being, I kind of agree with her in the aspect that there isn't a snowball's chance in hell that SBF will ever testify publicly at this point. SBF is a con man, I don't for an instant believe he was just an idiot...he carefully crafted his "bum" image and donated money to the right people to keep it going. I also have a feeling he's going to "hang himself" sooner than later, so the political money laundering aspect that so many are likely involved in with this deal doesn't get exposed.

I agree in theory…

But since he was arrested at the behest of the US Government, I believe the timing of his arrest was 100% intentional, precisely so that he wouldn’t have to testify at this time.

After witnessing what we have become over the last few years, I don’t believe in coincidences of this caliber.

The Democrats have no use for SBF now that he's flush outta cash to buy-off politicians that enabled him to steal billions from unknowing investors. He's going to go down like a bad transmission! He will spend the remainder of his years behind bars so the Biden Crime Family can continue to live another day!

I saw that interview. kevin was no fool. he had to get out ahead of this and take the bullet. He did.
He said he will testify as asked.
He also made a strong point that he invested only his own money, No one elses. all losses are his personally.
He also said he has the resourses to find out exactly where all that money went........
Hillary made a phone call when she heard that no doubt....
He'll take a hit but come out fine.
They should fry that cocky millenial prick, Bankman.

Sounds to me like he is trying to get ahead of the scheme and make himself look like a victim. If anybody buys that he didn't know it was all bullshit to begin with I'm also gonna assume they believe OJ is innocent and Epstein really did kill himself.

Financial crooks got caught... Hope the lot of them all go to prison for fraud.

How convenient that the dude gets arrested right before he is supposed to be interviewed (testify) without the presence of an attorney, with everthing being admissible in court. That would be a gold mine of information for the justice department.

Seems possible someone didn't want that to happen. Why not arrest him afterwards? Maybe this is more connected to powerful people than we think. Hmmmm

Bingo. Dude is not a security threat to anyone but those in the government using him to commit dirty deeds and funnel money to places it shouldn't. They should have let him throw up all over himself and all of his investors, then arrested him at the conclusion of his testimony to congress. We all can see why "someone" would not want that testimony to be out there.

He will now be swept away in a Fed prison somewhere and offered a nice deal to keep his mouth shut.

I bet his Parents get brought into this. Bankman and Fried are both law professors at Stanford. They say they didn't know anything about the company, but the Scammer bought them a $16.5 M home in the Bahamas, and the Dad went there once a month.

Doesn't that keep congress from granting immunity for his testimony?

I don't know. I am not an Attorney.

I don't think he will testify...ever. Like was said above, this is looking more and more like a mechanism to funnel money to the Democrats. If that is true, they will pay him off to stay silent.

At this point, it would be great to hear him testify. If they do give him immunity, he should still have to pay back the money that was "Misplaced".

He has already done enough interviews. Just piece them all together. He isn't nearly as much as a dipshit as they make him out to be. Oh it was just an innocent mistake. the way all the big investors piled on with no due diliagance is another red flag.
