To my eye it looked like he got into it while still on the highway. Definitely really close.

People are also saying that Rob Mac was in the pits when Arciero passed him on the highway and rob somehow caught up while Arciero was doing the speedlimit, but that is all rumor.
Plus, how do you get alongside someone like that in a speed limit zone on the highway, in the WRONG lane? The rules are they must obey speed limits and traffic laws on those stretches, so there’s NO way what Rob Mac did was legit. Penalty deserved.

Good point, if these guys don't start playing by the rules better we are looking at the highway portions being untimed. Have a timing marker right before you hit the highway, then another starting line with another flag man at the next section of dirt.

Not a bad idea, but would take some serious observation. There are a LOT of speed limited highway sections. I could see a lot of racers making “coincidental” untimed stops for tire changes, water breaks, etc.

Just got a text from my all girl team down there, they rolled the 1577 Lothringer, at mile 80, got her back on the rubber and finished and won the BAJA 1000 in Sportsman class. Another win on this car, wired here, prepped by Lothringer..Just feeling pretty good right now!!

Doesn't look like it, but after 35 years of doing this, it's sorta blurry. Done wiring as of now, this year..been fun..another win at the 1000, all good!

There is another shot of this from the rear of the Jeep on Instagram. It’s insane. According to the recent post, the driver of the TT never even saw the Jeep. Lol...
That was Alexander Rossi, Indy car driver, not in a TT, but the Honda Ridgeline truck

Sorry but if someone tried to pass me in a speed controlled zone I would have pit maneuvered him.

Rob Mac was given a 15 minute penalty for unsafe illegal pass on the highway. He officially finished 3rd in TT and lost by 9 minutes. Doh!
