Very bad wreck at 95 and Oro Grande. Happened about 1:20 pm. North bound big rig and numerous vehicles with injuries. I had just been there about 10 minutes prior.

That's California time right? Just heard of the call awhile ago.
Scanner says 12 patients, 3 critical.

Initial reports state a north bound big rig failed to stop at 95 and Oro Grande. The big rig collided into a number of vehicles stopped at the light. There was word of a 70 year old female driver, unclear what vehicle she was driving.

FYI, just drove into town a few minutes ago from the south and the highway is still closed at McCulloch.

That’s a nightmare. Wonder if the truck driver had a medical emergency or just wasn’t paying attention. My wife was just there too.

The speed limit on 95 from Mulberry to South McCulloch is 55 mph. Believe that also includes big rigs. There are now 5 traffic lights in that stretch. . . . .

Was at Basha‘s right after the wreck EMT’s & LEO’s already there.
The cars involved were quite a distance away from each other.
It looked like someome just picked up cars and placed them all about 50 yards away from each other all in different places.
The cars were severely damaged. Kinda like what a car would look like if a train hit them.
Praying for the people in them. 🙏🏼

Unverified reports say, the older female was the driver of the big rig. Someone at the car wash said they saw her exit the big rig. Claimd she may have been less than 5’ tall. But, was she truly the driver? Sounds like potential BS? Time will tell. What is real, a number of innocent people are critically injured and their cars destroyed. Very bad deal, for sure. I realize a lesser speed limit would probably not have prevented this. Curious at what speed the big rig was traveling when it struck these stopped vehicles. The manner in which they were reportedly flung, sounds like the big rig may have been traveling at a substantial speed. We have some 18 wheel operators on here. Their input would be beneficial. Personally, I know more about stopping a boat or a ship. Undoubtedly, there are numerous variables for each.

If the driver had a health emergency and was not really in control of the vehicle, may have been going faster than the posted speed limit as it is downhill on that stretch. Even at the posted speed limit parked cars would get tossed very easily at 50 miles an hour.

Sad deal, no matter how you slice it, hope the rumors I’ve heard are not true.☹️

I always, ALWAYS, when crossing 95 take a moment after the light goes greem just to see if there are any late light runners because Ive seen so many run those lights on that Hwy.
As reported, those struck were not crossing 95. They were stopped at Oro Grande on NB 95. But, when crossing 95, I also pay attention to any traffic from the side. Historically, I’ve witnessed large wintertime RVs blowing through the red lights. This big rig wasn’t one of those.

Sooo true, I was leaving the dog park at Sara's park a few months ago and thank God when the light changed I paused for some reason. A cement truck blew through the red light a soild 3 or 4 seconds after it had changed green for me, fucking scary shit.

I drive OTR, and average 500ish miles a day. I see tons of women drivers nowadays. more often than not, they run the speed limit, and don’t do stupid shit under way. All of the dangerous drivers that I see are box Jockeys, younger male, and have tassels in the windshield, or crossed swords on the side of the rig.

^And throw jugs of piss to the shoulder at i40 & sr95. Tow truck drivers refuse work under most big rigs. These pigs shit thru the cab floor.

The jugs of piss piling up on every remote turn off on the major highways is disgusting.
You gotta wonder where these people came from and that it ok to throw a jug of piss out the window for someone else to pick up.
We are in the Street Sweeping Business, along with Jugs, the towels and old T shirts pure filth. Animals are cleaner. My guys do not touch it,even with gloves. Check out the discarded diapers in a Wal- Mart Parking lot,Premium Outlets, etc.

We have a center near us... with a Romp O Rama. Diapers and other garbage in the parking lot all of the time.

Definitely some interesting cultural differences than the way I was raised...

Makes you wonder why they dont just pull over a pee in the rocks like most people do!?!?!? Peeing into a bottle seems like more work
This. I will never understand it and I think it’s absolutely disgusting. Every exit you pull off of jugs of piss everywhere. First off why would you want to piss inside your truck? It doesn’t make sense to me.. take 30 seconds to stop and pee and continue on it’s not very hard

Ive driven for a living, still do part time. Peeing doesnt take more than a minute. Slowing down and getting back to highway speeds, no more than 5 min. Id say its laziness
I wasn’t saying what they’re doing is right by any means. I agree and I use to work for the water district in Barstow I hated going to the truck stops for that reason. Pee bottles everywhere

I've always had to take behind wheel safety courses due to a company car deal.... gonna be measuring tire skid marks.... I was blown away learning how long it takes a loaded big rig to stop at speed. That front end looks like it might've never gotten to breaking.

My nabor saw this truck come into Parker and try to make a right onto nb 95, left hand turn lane on 95 had to back up so it could make the turn. Was then seen on 95 sometimes going 10mph then 60, by the " chicken gas station back to 10mph. Something not right!

Like OD-1 mentioned, it does sound like a possible medical problem. Diabetic?

I drove a truck 25 years ago straight out of the Army. It was an LTL company as a city driver. Back then it was a swinging dick job. You had to know someone to get in the door, and you had start on the dock before they ever let you drive. It was a different breed of drivers than todays drivers. Knowing that road, that grade is nothing dangerous and there’s plenty of room and visibility to get your speed under control. Something doesn’t add up, if I had to guess I’d say they were high on something or something medically wrong. As far as I know companies with CDL drivers still have to take random drug tests, so a habitual user will get weeded out. 🤷🏼‍♂️

As far as peeing in bottles, again these are different types of people. You’re supposed to do a safety check in your log book every two hours. You pull over, squirt the dirt, thump all your tires, check your lights, walk around your truck and get moving again. It takes 2 minutes, you aren’t gonna lose any money in two minutes. Plus it keeps you fresh and gives your mind a nice reset. We carried Haz Mat, maybe the rules are different now though. Still it’s a good practice as a driver. Fuck peeing in a bottle in your cab.

It does seem odd that more info has not come out about this. Lots of maybe's, but nothing solid. Even basic things, such as was the driver of the big rig cited . Status of those hospitalized. Etc.
