It’s occurs to me that most of my bad decisions have lead to really good times, met great friends, made money (revenue not profits😉), got laid etc…..

I was talking with a colleague the other day, he’s 27 years old, parents dropped him off at kindergarten and told him to be good and do what he was told, he did and now has an amazing career, owns a few houses, buying more and setting up passive income streams. He’s making and has made all the right choices. I asked him what his worst decisions was and he had a hard time coming up with one 😂

I’m encouraging him to come make bad choices with me and few other older guys. Lately we've been playing with airplanes, I cannot think of a worse financial thing to be involved with, well maybe habitual cocaine use, thoroughbred horse racing, high performance boats or tech startups and dancers named Destiny or Charity, but other than that airplanes are amazingly terrible financial decisions that can never be justified. But holy shit are they a good time.

What I’ve learned about aviation so far is that it doesn’t end until your strapped to a rocket and headed to space, and if you’ve done it right you will die broke with a hangar/hangars full of broken airplanes or maybe even space ships😂

What’s your best bad decision?

How does marriage fall into this?
Asking for a friend 🤣

Going with "leaving the rat race"...it's been the best bad decision. Can't afford coke or strippers, but allowed me to do things that were impossible before for my family.

Business partnerships that were my brothers. The saying is that a partnership is the only ship that don’t float. My folks didn’t have a Christmas dinner with a full house in a decade.
Truth

I have heard that one as " The only ship that doesn't sail is a partnership " I have seen some close family members lose relationships over business ventures.

Most of the time it is a bad idea.

I moved out of california and lost around 20% of my income due to less overtime...

In the end I'm winning, I spend more time with my boys and have slowed my life down. I live the dream now in what I consider to be the best city this nation has to offer

If it floats, fucks, or flys…….😂

Rent it .. LOL...

Actually the first airplane I bought I should have kept, but I fucked up and sold it in a fit of short sightedness on my part. The last one I bought turned into a financial disaster, mostly because I ran out of a supply of dirt bag mechanics to work on it. It was fun though.

Now I joined a brothel and own the airplanes with 40 other people. So I'm closer to renting them owning, which seems to be a happy median.

Most recent? Snow boarding with a herniated C6 disc. Didn’t make it worse and had fun lol.

I have invested in 5 tech startups just this year. Bad decision TBD.

When we owned our business, we attributed at least a portion of our success to our competitors’ family squabbles. They couldn’t get out of their own way.

As to my own bad decisions, it was building a vacation home on riverfront property. That cost an extra $200k to construct rock vanes and rebuild the riverbank when it decided to change course. 🫤

However, we created so many memories with that place that it was all worth it. Many, many good times with friends and family.

I can't think of a time a bad decision turned out good or fun. They usually became a learning experience of don't fucking do that again.

Buying motorcycles
Financially, trying to keep multiple 30yr old motorcycles on the road has kept me from owning property, furniture, and other basic needs but, the trips I've made, good times I've had, and people I've met because of them have made this a life worth living 😏

My wife has me 60% committed to moving to Portugal for at least 6 months.
Then tonight I watched videos of the Azores. It's like Ireland meets Hawaii. Do Republicans really leave the U.S.A.?

My wife is Portuguese, her dad is first gen in the US from Santa Maria (Azores island). It’s not Hawaii or Ireland… ha ha. Beautiful country, but there’s really nothing there. If you want to check out and be an ‘ol man by the sea… it’s your place.

I want to cut my household expenses in half.
I can rent my house out while I'm gone, further stocking the piggy bank. If I'm going to this, Portugal checks a ton of boxes. I told the wife I'd make the move for 6 months. I just wish I was younger LOL.

I have heard that Thailand is the place to do what you are talking about. I'm not sure is does a marriage much good but the motorcycling is second to none and there is lots of talent of there.

My wife and her best friend just got back a week ago from 5 weeks in Thailand and Vietnam. Neither of us want to live in that humidity or that culture.

I haven't been there but we have 3 friends in our social ring that are headed that way. They claim that for 5K a month you can live large.
