Maybe I'm late to the party but these Back Up Buddies for trailer brakes are a life saver.
Makes backing up way way easier.

Those look simple and inexpensive. I modified mine with a magnet because we were always moving the boat around with the forklift. That would have saved me some time.

If your Trailer and Plug on the tow vehicle is wired properly you shouldn't even have to get out to install this which makes life even more easier.

No electronic brakes on the trailer. :(

eBay has them for $14

Late to the party buddy. Those things are awesome. I use mine around town when towing the boat now.

Never seen those before. So, how do they work?

About six inches from the front of the trailer you'll see a circle with a semi-circle slot behind it. The magnet part fits over that circle and the tab goes into the slot allowing you to backup the trailer.

I have that same coupler and have never had a problem backing up, but I never really back up hills.

As mentioned, if the wiring is correct on your tow rig (assuming golf carts have back up lights?) there should be a bypass valve in the tongue that allows the brake line pressure to be bypassed in reverse. Driving around town with the blocker plate in seems a little risky as the tow vehicle has to stop itself and the trailer.

I guess those are for if your trailer is unhooked from the tow vehicle and needs to be moved. The only way I move my trailer is with my tow vehicle and the harness plugged in - no issues.

I have a different tongue on mine and need something like that for it. When I stop to back in my driveway the brakes are applied and solenoid then doesn't help because brakes are already applied

My issue is when the boat and trailer are at the storage facility and it's being moved around with the fork lift the operator ether has to plug in the wire harness to 12v or put in the lockout key he hate doing ether and I didn't know about those cool orange things so I installed this bar that holds the key in place. image.jpg

My brakes drag when going from my house to the ramp since it is mostly downhill. I use this around town now, I used to keep it just for emergencies to lock out the brakes.
