I'm looking for a shop to repair my 2008 duramax. I got hit back in Sept. On the way to the pits at the San Diego race and the ins. Co. Is totaling the truck. Since it has low miles and ran perfectly for the year I've owned it I'm considering buying it back and repairing it. I really like this truck. I spent 4 months looking for this exact package and found it relatively close to me (oxnard) and feel very fortunate to have it. It was a 1 owner deal with great maintenance, low wear unit. Anyway, I need to get some real estimates and see if I can repair it nicely, not perfectly but nicely for what they're offering

It needs new fender, Dr. Door, fr. Rim/tire, tie rod, fr. Bumper, cover, grill, rocker repaired, little body work on pass door and truck bed just above rocker, nurf bar, rear tire etc. And re-paint to match.
Note: the driver door window frame top does not contact the door seal so it is rotated out @ top. They hit the front tire and drove down the side of the truck attempting to turn left ahead of us on the side street in pic. The gray Mazda seen on the right beyond my truck was the culprit.

Check with Joe over at New Image in Santa Paula. He has done great work for me and a few family members in the past.

Damn.....Pics got messed up
Sheared the light pole. The light arm.got hung on a tree branch saving us from a crushed cab/windshield/ hood etc. where my wife was sitting. That would've really sucked.

Willing to go approx. 30 miles for a good shop.
A while back somebody recommended a shop in riverside but I can't seem to find the thread. The owner is a inmate here.

Give Mike a call at Santana’s Auto Body in Ontario. He’s not the fastest, but you do get quality work. Tell him Mark with the Cadillac CTS V sent you over.

Are they totaling it because it needs a frame?

I used Raven Brothers in Chino to fix some shit years ago.
It was an odd little place but I remember the guy was a "straight shooter",
(If he still runs the show)

No, no apparent frame damage.
Most diesels won't total unless they need a frame, make sure you do your due diligence to get the max payout, it might take a few weeks going back and forth with the insurance company comparing comps etc. Overload them with comparables that you find nation wide even if they just want local comps. You gotta wear them down with information, eventually they will cave to the best comps. If the repairs are just cosmetic repairing and replacing panels etc, I'd definitely buy it back. Once they cut you a check its over so just do your homework...It might be hard to find a shop that will give an exact estimate without a teardown.

X2 for this Mike took care of my brand new Ram 3500 that picked up road debris a week after I bought it and put a good crease in the drivers door. I cannot even tell where it was. Quality work👍👍
