We usually combine our 1 week vacation with 4th of July so we get an extra 3 or 4 days depending on when Independance Day falls.

Bryce is one of my favorite national parks. It amazingly gorgeous, and beautiful hikes all over.

Be sure to check on Zion before going. I heard that you now have to have reservations to go in and ride the shuttle. No cars allowed inside anymore. Not sure 100%. I would call the Ranger Station to find out what the real deal is! The Narrows Hike is super cool. Should be great in early September. The water levels should be lower by then.

Enjoy!!!

Hunting North West NV this weekend and next weekend (if I don't fill my Antelope tag this weekend).

If tag is filled, we are looking at going over the hill to the Delta and seeing my future in-laws and doing dome boating for labor day weekend.

We are debating a trip to Hawaii and using on of the in-laws condos in the near future.

Labor Day Weekend: Vegas for a work conference and USC vs LSU game
One weekend at home with a couple concerts
A weekend in Havasu
Wife's work retreat at the Hotel del Coronado
5-7 day hunt in New Mexico

I might even have a 2 night work trip to St. Louis stuffed in there somewhere.

I'm not sure if I'm excited, exhausted, or both looking at the travel lineup.

I told my wife that I don't want to say yes to anything besides Havasu for January and February. I give that a 1% chance of actually happening.

I just got back from a 7-state, 4000-mile, 18-day trip that was AWESOME!!! I'm having an "End of Summer" party at the house on the 31st, then headed to the Dakotas for another road trip for a couple of weeks! This semi-retired thing is killer!!! Not looking forward to coming back to reality and figuring out what my next work adventure is...

Some time in September going to head out across Texas to see some friends and sightsee, and be in Arkansas by the 1st of October for 10 days of fishing on Lake Greeson. Might have to start a go fund me page to pay for gas in the motorhome. I guess it’s not really a vacation since I am retired, but I got nothing else to do before going to Arizona for the winter.

Anyone have vacation plans for the remainder of Aug and Sept?

We are going to Zion and Bryce Canyon the week of Sept 8-13. We are staying at an Air BnB in Hurricane, Utah.
You guys are going to love Zion and Bryce!

We were there about two weeks ago, stayed at the Zion Lodge inside the park, it allows vehicle access past the gate that only allows the shuttles into. And when the shuttles stop running at dusk we had our bikes on the road all the way to end to stargaze.

What type are of plans have you made for sightseeing or hiking?

What about dinner in Zion? I might recommend a reservation at the Spotted Dog! 🏆

Earlier this month we made some time to play…

Havasu to Powell, we left boat in storage there the month before.
Powell to Zion, took truck offroad on a trail near Kanab. Hiked the Narrows in Zion (only went in about 6 miles), it was a long day.
Zion to Vegas for Morgan Wallen / Jelly Roll. Was gonna hang at pool day after but decided to get back to Havasu.
I think we did it in 9 days.

Rest of month, about same… havasu to powell and back a couple more times hopefully. We bring the boat back to Havasu after LPC2024.

Kauai in October

Either rent an E-bike or get there REALLY early in Zion! The bus line is ridiculous. Well over an hour

Got back from Maui about a week ago and needless to say it was a family flight not exactly peaceful.

Haven’t been for a couple years, but we’ve already rebooked another flight to go back in a while. It’s a little calmer in the air. Love that place. One of my favorite restaurants is still open in Lahaina. It did not burn and the Safeway did not burn either. Strange to see some rebuilding construction too.

Couple weeks in Maui in Sept and a week in Cabo for my nieces wedding.
Probably sneak a week or so at the river in there somewhere.

Nope, have a school age kid and their school system has backed up the start of school to mid-August. Used to start in late August and we'd plan our vacations for then since prices plummet around mid-August once school starts... Now I'm paying out the ying-yang like most other "summer-only" vacationers...

It was crazy. The first day we were there it wasn’t too bad. Busy, probably 30min wait for the bus. Next day we walked in and it wasn’t under the “Disneyland” canopy. Line was down to the visitor center. Wife, oldest/his wife bailed. We started walking up to tram stop 3/4 to try to work our way up. SOB it was tough. Daughter with a newborn.. We got up to the grill, did some local hikes and caught the bus down. The place is badass. We’ll go back with just me and the wife to check it out.
PS. An E-bike gets around all of it. They were flying everywhere.

Best time of the year to go to Parker,
after Labor day. Be there for 10-14 days,
depending on GF.

Planned a 10th anniversary cruise to Alaska end of September. Went for all the upgrades and options since I don’t know if my wife will ever do it again. She likes snowboarding vacations but hates cold weather destinations for anything else. 😂

A few work trips to various parts of CA for September October. Headed to Miami in October for a cruise and then taking a few days to visit various parts that we miss. Neighbors have us talked into doing some weekends down in Mexico with them. We've never been to Cabo or PV so they are going to show us the sites down there.

The wife's 50th is coming up in September and with my recent back surgery gone bad it is tough to get out and do to much like we planned last year. We haven't seen any beaches since moving to Texas 4 years ago so I got a beach house with golf cart for a week in Port Aransas Texas. We shall see but should be fun to do nothing and just relax.

I've been able to spend a lot of lake time at Mead this year, about 10 weeks so far. Headed back to Mead this Wed. for a week over Labor Day, then down to Baja for the 5th annual Baja 400, then a motorhome trip to Sand Hollow for a week the beginning of October followed with a week at Pirate's Den on the strip and finishing at Borrego Springs.
In November I'm flying down for a week in San Jose del Cabo then driving back up to catch up with some friends racing the Baja 1000.
Haven't figured out our Thanksgiving plans yet. New Year's will probably be at Mead. Then,,,2025 will be here before you know it.

Update: Now home for a couple weeks then off to the Dakota's after the end of summer party. Then hit Havasu to meet some family at the beginning of October! Maybe, I will see if I want a new job in 2025?

Another month and we’ll be able to go back outside, without melting in Phoenix. We spent a week in Wyoming in July. Drove up and back, through Moab and Rifle.
Not much cell phone signal in the middle of no where. I remember hitting stretches where I didn’t see a car for over and hour, coming from the other way. Wildlife everywhere. Even saw a few moose. 😉
