I’d be interested in that short deck if it’s looking for a home. At the very least I’d like to talk to you about it. If you have a minute, please give me a call.

Way cool you did that. Couple questions.
Short deck, race boat? Which came first, long or short deck? Same time? Could be a privateer that decided to take a ski boat racing? The story in my mind is Salton Sea? lol.
Main question, that looks like a one piece wrap around stringer to stringer steering quadrant support. Never seen anything like that. Thoughts?

They were racing short decks before the long deck arrived.
Earliest I’ve seen of the Long Deck is in 1965.
Here’s the top 20 from the 1965 Salton Sea race.
Brummett is in a long deck.
Plenty of short decks in the field.

On your other question…
I’d have to look through my archives, but I am pretty sure BeeDee Marine made the battery box/steering pulley part.
I’ve done 3 or 4 boats that have it in them.
All built in the mid 60’s.

So some great news yesterday..,the old Mandella has a new home in Tucson, Arizona!
Thanks to all for the interest and special thanks to Eddie for taking this boat into his amazing fold of Mandellas👍
The lesson here is always be on the lookout for these old boats.
Over the years so many of them have been stripped of the motor and parts and discarded.
For some of us here these old hulls are a living history that still have stories to tell and future memories to make.
I’ve been fortunate to be able to bring a bunch of boats worse off than this one back to life for another generation to enjoy.
So when you come across one, post it up, call a friend or heck call me!
Once they’re gone, they’re gone for good!

If possible boats should always be put back together to their former glory. Never taken apart and sold for parts to make money. See so much of it in the Craigslist adds. Sad.

… About 10 years ago… Had to take a bare flat bottom hull to the dump… Sat there and watched as a dozer crushed it… 10 years ago nobody wanted it… It looked to me like it was a Howard🤷🏽‍♀️… stringers were good floors were good… Cost me 60 bucks to take it to the dump…

… In thinking more about it, it had to be more than 10 years ago…because I’m pretty sure I was posting the hull for free on Hot Boat🤷🏽‍♀️

Lou (A1 canvas) has 2 twenty-footers), our oldest son has one (a shot deck- aka krazy kraut), Lou (senior) has the long (marathon) deck currently at Eddie's, and cousin Ken has Lou senior's original 1963 short deck.
Don't you mean 2-18 footers ?

Yes a 10 deg Hallcraft same as my Mandella was originally rigged . Sent the V drive to Tom Bently and had it machined to use casale gears and put a whirlaway in it . Wanted to keep it original . View attachment 1445135 View attachment 1445136 View attachment 1445137
Mr. Hall used to live in San Luis Obispo. I worked on the A/C and walk-in wine cooler in his house. He had a few cases, struts, and shaft logs, plate turnbuckles and all that scattered around his porch and pard as decoration. The guy that met us and walked us to the equipment and all was quite surprised when I asked him what the V-drive case was for. Apparently not many people knew what a V-drive was that had been around.

So good to see a member take it. Long road ahead, but worth it. Looks to be rigged for a marathon ski racer. Big fuel tanks mounted to large pads and the stringers with the stout rigging. Possibly a Catalina ski racer.
