FDR didn't sit on his ass, ever heard of the lend lease act? The policy of isolationism started after WW1. There are lots of reasons why Germany spun out of control after WW1 and it had to do with paying for everything they caused. The politicians that put the public in the situation weren't impacted, it was the average citizen that paid the price. That's how Hitler gained control. The middle class got fucked and paid the price for their country initiating WW1. Same thing happened at the end of WW2, only the western half of Germany got the velvet glove treatment, the eastern half con the iron glove. Japan should have got the iron fist treatment but got the shoulder hug, velvet glove treatment. Japan has totally abused that Ally treatment and is now struggling because they almost killed the golden goose. They are not our ally. Look up currency manipulation in the late 90's.

Most of the world flat out hates the US. Even our closest "allies". England is our go to ally, they haven't wavered even with piss poor US leadership from both parties. But then again, they need us and they should be our closest ally.
