Seems to be limited to ATT. I have no clue how the whole network could be down. Insane.
I dont understand cellular networks or IT work but i do know that outages arent good if they aren't planned.

Just came back up. Cant wait to hear what caused this. Being in IT, I cant imagine what would cripple the whole chain!

Probably trying to show the Feds they need a few billion more in handouts to be able to afford maintenance on their not-so-world-class network. Because taking expenses out of profits is so last century when you can just get a handout, and then make your profit numbers look that much better.

The radio this morning was saying AT&T is trying to assure people it was not a cyber attack. I'm not techy enough to have any clue.

Supposedly there was a big cyber attack on Israel yesterday though. They believe Iran was to blame. I did not here what they attacked though (comms, utilities, etc.)

According to Snowden, ATT is the worst carrier as they are infiltrated by the CIA. All their data is handed over to the CIA with no questions asked. Screw ATT!. To be honest, I could roll back 30 years and do without a phone and be just fine. Probably sleep better too.

Maybe they went down when they dumped a huge amount of cash into a left special interest group. FUCK AT&T and everyone they support, If you support these ass holes you are the problem.

My phone only started working an hour ago.

AT&T……… You really let me down today. Can I get 1 year of free service to make up for it? Lol

It was a bummer cruising the beach on my golf cart with NO music.

While I am bitching……. Not being able to call or text sucked too. I tried using my wife’s phone, but since she also has AT&T, we got the double whammy.

I have Verizon. As of Tuesday, I have been slammed with 12-15 spam calls a day starting at 9am until about 5:30, damn near every 15-20 mins. There are about 4-5 different numbers, mostly saying they are from LA, Fontana, Orange County, and Bakersfield.

I normally don't answer numbers that I don't recognize/aren't in my contacts list and let someone leave me a voicemail. I have answered a few of these calls only saying hello without using my normal tone/voice, but there is no answer back. (Since I have heard about people using AI to replicate your voice with just a few words, I am not taking any chances)

My brother said he is getting the same thing this week. I thought maybe someone we know got hacked and our numbers got into some sort of robo-call system.

It's super annoying. The last call was about 5 minutes ago. I answered it, put it on speaker and set it in front of my computer speakers to listen to 90's alt/grunge. It disconnected itself after about 10 seconds without saying anything back.

Look at it this way, it is not like you are paying to be annoyed constantly or anything like that. That would be wrong.

I have VZW as well, and I’ve at the same calls at the same frequency as you..

my number is connected to multiple businesses and business licenses so I get tons of spam calls. I would say 85% of them don’t even work they are set up to transfer you to a call center if you pick up and most of the time the connection is not made and never hear anything. Verizon does a really good job of telling me it’s a possible spam number when it shows up on the caller ID so if I answer it I don’t say anything like you.

Do you have any "smart" devices? TV, phone, iPad, windows 10 or newer PC, sonos, Alexa, thermostat? If so it really doesn't matter your voice is being recorded all the time. Do you use voice to text? Everything you've ever said on that gets archived in a database. Your phone tracks every location you've ever been in a database. Point being you can't get away from it in today's day and age unless you live in a completely remote area not connected to any internet and don't drive any vehicle newer than 1999. Welcome to the information age I say swim down river and deny everything.

I started thinking about this after I posted that, mostly because I've started posting some videos on instagram talking about things here at the shop. Doh!

You are correct, there is no way to get away from being recorded in today's day and age, but I think it would be harder for the common hacker to extract that recording unless they were specifically targeting me through those devices. The phone call thing is pretty easy for the common hacker to get what they need, especially for those of us that use our phones for business and are regularly getting calls from unrecognized numbers.
