They usually do not come with lithium batteries......At least all the trailers i bought have lead acid, Maybe high end Motor homes.
Above five or so amp-hours nobody puts Lithium Ion batteries in anything but electric cars anymore, Lithium Ferro-Phosphate (LiFePO4 or "LFP") batteries rule the roost now because they don't (can't) catch fire. Not quite the power density of Li-Ion (so you won't see them in a Tesla), but 1000x safer.
Most RV's with solar systems are coming with them now. In the last 2 or 3 years has been the big push to the change (my brother and parents both bought 5th wheels within the last 2 years so we have discussed the various options and all a lot). It might be the LFP batteries that ElectroNautical is referring to, Im not too sure, but there are MANY coming with factory installed upgraded battery systems. They usually do not come with lithium batteries......At least all the trailers i bought have lead acid, Maybe high end Motor homes.
Yes, everything except electric vehicles is LFP today, and you can buy them now for under $2 per KWh even on Amazon. Only minor problem is you can't recharge them in ambient temperatures are below about 35 degrees F, but the temperature sensor in the integrated BMS protects the cells if you try. https://www.amazon.com/Wattcycle-LiFePO4-Lithium-Battery-Built/dp/B0CPL8MVN8Most RV's with solar systems are coming with them now. Not likely, I'm familiar with the area. Far more likely is a leaking propane tank in an unventilated locker (typical among RV owners) but the owner or business would then be liable. Easier to blame a 'trash fire'...Supposedly started from a trash fire and in that case I’d have to say homeless encampment may have been to blame.
worth noting that the LIFEPO4 really does not have the heat / combustion issues that the LI-ION batteries have
i'm voting arson, someone jumped the fence at an RV dealer in san berdoo and lit a bunch on fire recently
I believe these were all new RV's. Most dealers don't fill the propane tanks until sale. Too many liabilities with such. Not likely, I'm familiar with the area. hate to sound skeptical .... but, Yes we're insured!
