i think Walgreens is the one that took over with the ice cream deal. it may be CVS.

...Sitting at Thriftys lunch counter ordering fries and a coke,...about 20 cents? and then wetting the end of the straw wrapper and blowing through the straw,...and if you did it right you could stick the wrapper to the lunch counter ceiling...:D

Most of them in NorCal became RiteAid stores. There was a new RiteAid that opened recently by our home that has cheap ice cream again...I think .25 per scoop.

Riding in the bed of your dads 72 Chevy pickup all the way to the river and fetching beers out of the cooler the whole way.

When Webco was "the shit":)

When bottled water was club soda or Perier

Bruce Lee

There were drive in movie theaters all over the place.

rite aid ... that's what i was trying to think of. there is one a few miles down the road from us. every once in a while we will head down there and get a few scoops. brings back childhood memories for sure.

Not the same. Those capitalistic fuckers.

I think it was a mixture of all those. The all the tear downs and drive through pill houses took over.

How about....

Having to drive through down down Indio and eating at the blue diner (name?)

Getting gas at the TEXACO in desert center with working clean bathrooms....Come on there has to be some of you.

Stopping at Rice for a coke, gas, or a fan belt. It's more than just a shoe fence to me. I remember no AC and 115* you had to stop.

Vidal when the inspection deal used to be a shack that was never open.

Motorcycle riding in the big sand hills adjacent the 10 in Whitewater.

LCS turned out to be a mess at the end :(

No doubt. Irvine couldn't place allot of those animals so they were put down. Big bunch of douche bags Irvine is. Still is and now with a Korean Mayor. I would have never thought the Irvine brothers would have allowed that.

Lion Country Safari... my Dad won a goat in a bet one time and mom was not too happy (that's a whole other thread LOL) Anyway he called them up the next day and tried to donate LOL or give the goat and they wouldn't take it.

Dads worked and moms stayed home.
We rode our bikes to the moves and parked them in the bike racks without locks. They were there when we came out.
Pinball was $0.05
We took our guns to school for shooting club after school.
We made our hunting knifes at school.
Burgers were made with 30% fat.
We played outside.
You could go to the park and start a workup game with one bat, one ball.
When the fight was over, so was the argument.
I knew everyone on my street and the next.
Dad left the keys in the car.
You could not hold $0.50 of penny candy in both hands.
Cops drove down your street and stopped to say hi.
We spent Sundays as a family.
Every meal was ate at the table, together.
