Peace , quiet , solitude , convenience Is this my forever home .... Yes . When I first met my wife Rhonda she was a Horse crazy Teenage girl , shortly after her Horse Tea collicked and died . I promised Her I would get Her a horse after we were married , enter "Wiley" (Star of Rafad ) Her 3 year Old Half Arab The the delima , boarding was expensive and too far to drive to feed etc .. So we went shopping for "horse property" . Practically everything we found was "mountain goat property" The One Morning a kindly older realter called and invited Us to go look at our now little Rancho . It was near flat , enough for a couple large pastures and reasonably priced ..... almost 40 years back we built our modest 1300 sq ft house and never strayed . We are on the northwest of the city far enough out for peace and quiet. Nice neighborhood of 2 to 10 acre RA parcels and our closet neighbors are about 1000' feet away

Tourist to old man: You lived here all your life? Old man: Not yet.

I'm in my final destination unless I have to move into an assisted living place. Been here 7 years now. Continue to work on the property building more garages because I keep collecting more cars.😆

I’m real happy with my setup. I’ve been in the Phoenix house for 20 years, and 12 for the Flagstaff cabin.

The only other thing I could upgrade is adding surrounding land, and all that has been built out.

It’s too hot in Phoenix to boat in July and August, and the monsoons blow everything out by 2-3pm anyway, So we have a cabin, Jeep, and a SxS to explore northern Arizona. It’s also a great starting point in the summer for quick Powell trips, if we bring the boat from Phoenix up the hill for the summer.

We worry a little bit about Forrest 🔥, and the insurance has creeped up in Flagstaff, but still affordable, if you have a fire department near by.

Florida seems like it’s always 3 big hurricanes away from total destruction, As long a New York, Boston, and Chicago have freezing winters, Florida will rebuild. 😁

My primary house is in Canyon Lake, CA and I can't wait to sell and move. Sometimes I'd rather just go to my little manufactured home in Parker , AZ and hangout. It’s quiet and there is less BS that comes with living in CA.

AZ, UT, or ID might be on the ballet at some point. Preferably AZ due to the proximity of my house in Parker.

Nope. Arrowhead is only getting worse (home owners insurance issues, skyrocketing ALA costs and fees), very small selection of not very good restaurants and the whole STR takeover, not to mention its so claustrophobic up here with narrow winding streets.

My dad loves coming up here so I’m waiting for him to pass before I bail (if I can afford to continue to be up here which is already a challenge).

I can save so much money getting off this hill it’s ridiculous. Not to mention my sanity.

However I do like the four seasons which is hard to find. Also getting out of CA is a must.
Spent 37 years in Arrowhead and got out for the very same reasons. Went to Redlands for 10 years but just could not keep up with the increasing prices and California government mentality. Moved to Idaho and also bought property in Tennessee. Going to split our time between the two. The financial impact was huge. I actually have money left over at the end of the month!

Not so sure the current Idaho House will be our final house there, but the lake front in Tennessee probably will be.

I don’t have a problem with snow so I’m considering Nevada, Utah, Idaho, Wyoming or Colorado for options. I don’t mind the alpine lake thing.

… I certainly hope not… paid for house in North Hollywood, California …acreage above Lake Oroville… I really am not a neighborhood kind of person…like my life in North Hollywood… But I am old and pretty hobbled up…so I probably am stuck here…. If my stuff had not burned to the ground in the big forest fire…I think I might be better off above Lake Oroville???… But it was a whole bunch of labor in the middle of the forest… The labor I simply can no longer do🤷🏽‍♀️
… Who knows… The ultimate place to end my days may still pop up… Have told Neighbor girl a few times that I want out out of El Barrio Noho…🤷🏽‍♀️

The snow is a different experience up here. For the most part the roads are flat and they get the snow removed quickly! Only problem is the chemical they put down to melt it. Plays havoc in any metal surface. Snow up here does not slow anything down. Getting through he surrounding passes can be tricky though! The past two years Arrowhead has gotten MUCH more snow than we have in North Idaho. It does get cold though!

I looked for two years in Eastern Tennessee and by the time I could go look at it, it had sold. So I started writing property owners of property I liked and asked if they were interested in selling? Bought my property directly from the seller and it never was “on the market”. In the area I bought in Idaho, the developer says he cannot build the houses fast enough! Selling homes in future phases that the streets have not even been cut in yet. 😲

We hope we are in our final home. Only variable will be the never- ending increase in property taxes. At some point it will not be viable to live in Parker.

I love my house, my lot, my neighborhood and neighbors. I love the area, the schools but……. I’m really getting sick of a 2 story house and I wish I had more garage. So who knows.

Yes. Just moved. The process nearly killed me. I'm starting to feel as though I'm coming back to life now, 8 months later.
We are not hoarders and house we sold was ready, it's always been ready.
There was zero joy in the entire process. 'New house, how exciting....' F off 😁

We are about 30 days away from feeling like sitting down and doing nothing is actually relaxing.

I checked my oil on the toon Saturday. I write date and hours on the filter. In 11 months the boat ran 15 hours total. I bet 12 were idle. That's typically per month for us.

So yes, if the planets all line up this is where we stay. Yes it's even in California. I dont watch the news or listen to talk radio conspiracies so that makes the weather amazing

I've been in my house for 18 years. We like the location, the house has everything we need and most of the things we want. I don't expect to move anytime soon

Nope, getting ready to list my temecula house in the next few weeks. We have a family house in havasu that my parents are going to move into, I will just buy a bigger havasu place for my wife and kids.

Never thought my family would leave temecula but my parents are now retired and with them getting older their house in wine country is getting to be a bit much for them.

I thought about keeping my house in temecula but the rental laws in California are not in the favor of the landlord and I just want a little slower pace, I want to be able to pick my boys up from school and take them out on the lake or out in the desert for a few hours before dinner and homework time

Nope.

Getting ready to build a ”barndominium“.
We built our current house 10 years ago.
My wife and I are doing the exact same thing in 3 years or less
Bought 5 acres in Antelope Meadows area of Prescott Valley a few years ago. Fenced and well already in. Working on plans for the Barndominium now. I plan to build it myself as I have built several custom houses but the no maintenance and warranty of the Barndaminium hooked us.
Who are you using for yours?

The politics of normalcy bring way more people here than the cold up north. Especially when you can walk out your backyard, jump in a boat and….

I could stay in my home forever, but probably won't because CA SUX. We have discussed Prescott. I will probably buy a house in AZ somewhere, and part time between AZ and somewhere else. My wife wants "Somewhere Else" to be the Tahoe Area. However it will depend on where my kids settle and we have older parents we need to be here for.

Time will tell.

Nope. We are currently in AZ.

My family is in Michigan and Florida, the kids are in Michigan and NC. My wife’s’ family is in NC. We don’t want to deal with Michigan winters but want to be within a days drive of everyone.

So far, we have visited, Florence, AL, Lewis Smith Lake, AL, Lake Martin, AL and Lake Norman, NC. Still on the list to visit is LOTO, Tillery Lake, NC and will probably hit Lake Norman again. Some of the places in TN look appealing, so we might add that to the list. We want to be close to an international airport, good food options but a little remote with lake front living and some golf courses close by. Taking our time to make sure we make a well informed decision.

It’s funny how our list has changed. We never thought about NC but after checking out Lake Norman, it moved to the top of our list. Florence, AL is a cool little city with great boating on the Tennessee river. Those 2 location were not on our list to start but are at the top of it now.

Spending a lot of time on Zillow checking out houses these days.

We moved into our weekend getaway single wide home in Bullhead during the pandemic and then moved into a custom built home in a waterfront community with beach and launch ramp in Bullhead. I am working on paying it off soon and then look for a condo in another location like Southern Utah or Montana. Bullhead is not our final permanent home but I am setting it up to be a final getaway vacation home. I am trying to get everything that can Lock and Walk. The Bullhead House will have to have a pool person but otherwise not need alot of attention.

My Aunt in Cerritos recently passed away. Her and my Uncle purchased the house more than 50 years ago. He is still there.

Here is what they have/had in common with several other of my other elderly relatives. They eventually lost the ability to get to the 2nd floor of their homes. My Aunt spent the last years of her life living in her living room, since all the bedrooms were upstairs. 8 years ago, they installed a chair lift to get them to the 2nd floor, but eventually, even that was too difficult to use. 5 years ago, they applied for a permit to do an addition, to ad a master bedroom downstairs, but the City of Cerritos, said that they would have to ad a 3rd stall to their garage, in order to ad master bedroom. There was not enough room on the lot for the garage addition, so they basically moved into their living room. (3900sf home with no downstairs bedrooms)

The above also happened to my Grandfather. He got so old he could no longer go to the 2nd floor of his home. However, he had 2 bedrooms downstairs.

To sum it up, needs change. The perfect house for raising a family, may not be the perfect house for growing old.

I have spent the last 22 years living in high rise condos. One thing that has been consistent…….. My neighbors have been farting dust they are so old. With age…… comes wisdom. LOL
