Applying clear gelcoat over gelcoat

I plan on regelcoating my Fountain In the next couple of weeks. It will have some designs in the gelcoat. Im going to use clear gelcoat over the top of the gelcoat. My question is prep for Clear gelcoat. What is the correct method for spraying clear gelcoat over freshly sprayed gelcoat? Should the gelcoat be sanded before applying the clear? If so what grip paper should be used?

Spray your color almost like automotive base coat. Than your clear wet on wet 4 medium coats, you only have 20 minutes to spray before your gell coat kicks. And don't use gloves to remove your fine line.

So I spray color gel apply clear to each graphic color and then sand the tape lines to blend?

Dont do it, it only lasts a few years, then you have a nightmare of scraping it all of to repeat the process again.

No. blow all your colors then one coat of clear over all of them. It'd be a fucking nightmare to shoot a color, sand, re tape, blow the clear and then on to the next color.

Yes, just sand the new gel all at once. Are you going to use surfacing agent or PVA?
Key like anything else is in the prep. Make sure there are no holidays in the areas you're sanding or you'll just be pissing in the wind.

@old rigger I'm going to use surfacing agent. Ok so I spray all of my pigmented base gelcoat graphics let them cure sand with 400grit wipe with acetone and then spray the clear to cover the boat
