Since I have no time figured I'll get into something that takes up more time. Will be messing around at the local track Huckleberry in Anaheim.

Wife thought kids only play with this stuff. Don't think kids can afford this.. hahah

Have a friend that does drag racing and a few that do dirt circle track racing and rock crawling events. I'd love to go to Huntington Beach and watch the sand drags.

I used to race 2-3 nights a week, 10th scale electric. I ran 2wd buggy, 4wd buggy and pro4 all TLR cars. our local indoor track was OCRC and they raced wednesday night, friday night and sunday. it was not uncommon to be there until 1-2 in morning on friday nights, friday night it was their was sometimes 200 entries. most guys ran atleast 2 classes. i did that program for about 5 years, had a pretty solid group i raced with. the most fun was the "big races" 3 days, friday was practice, saturday qualifying and mains on sunday. the biggest race i was a part of, they capped it at 300 drivers, but you could run up to 3 classes. I want to say we had something like 110 heats. when i got wind the local track was loosing their lease, with no other 10th scale track near me, and my daughter being born any day i sold off all my stuff. i still miss it.

My brother and I raced back in the RC10 days. We picked it up again around 2011. My brother was damn good he gave the sponsored guys a good run. He was offered free cars at one point but didn’t want the commitment to travel.

I was mediocre. I did woop that fat dude ass from storage wars a few times. He thought he was hot shit.

We raced at coyote hobbies in Victorville

Oh man I totally understand this. I use to race in the early 2000s at Socal R/C Speedway in Huntington beach. I ran 1/10 on road electric Sportsman modified. My parents would trip when I asked them to drop me off early in the morning and pick me up super late on Sat and Sun. After awhile they probably love it cause I'm out doing something.

I wanted to go to OCRC but parents wasn't having it. Heard great things about that place.

Oh the Yokohama was bad ass. Hard to get parts from what remember. A guy we raced with had one and would smoke everyone until it broke and he was out for months trying to fix it.

Remember the 4wd dominator. Jesus that was fast.

Oh man Socal was back in the day, we were their late 90's. parents would drop off us right after school friday and pick us up late that night. once a couple of got drivers license the RC racing stopped. never ran on road, tried my hand at it once at cal speed with a borrowed car, I did not care for it.

Don't race them but just picked up a handful of Arrma Mohave Groms for the guys at work to play with. Knowing my guys, this will be a starting point for future upgrades and addictions.

Depends on skill level, offroad genre, budget, etc.....offroad RC is one of the biggest segments, so there are so many options...

I grew up racing at the Ranch Pit Shop and MnM as a kid. Got a couple smaller sponsors like Race Prep and I went all over the west racing with my dad. Qualified for the worlds when they were there, and finished in like the F main or something lol. It was a good time. I’ve picked it up a couple times throughout the years but it never really stuck.. just too busy.

Love to see AE cars. Been a die hard AE driver since I was a kid. Spectrum though I would have stayed away from. Personally used them for many years and threw my last one away this week. Flysky Noble is where it’s at for radio’s.
Good luck and have fun with that. 1/8 at Camarillo has a big following. I have put my 10th scale stuff on the shelf for now and been playing mini z’s personally.

Didn’t they have the big gas sprint cars there.?

I was like 8yrs old racing the novice class. The rules were you had to turn martial the race after yours.

Here I am this stoopid fucking kid turn martialing these big ass gas cars that are silly fast.
Well I didn’t judge speed correctly and got plowed by one as I went to help another. My ankle broke this guys car and he came down the drivers stands giving me a verbal smack down cussing and yelling frothing at the mouth. I’m crying cuz my ankle looks like mashed potatoes stuffed in a ballon and I’m about get my ass kicked by a grow man.

My dad came out of nowhere grabbed ahold of that guy and gave him the you fucked with the wrong kid talk. That was the first time I saw my dad loose his shit.

Man, that is a rabbit hole. Once you start with cars, you'll get bored and go to planes and sometimes to helicopters. Now, I think drones are the rage. I still have a bunch of that stuff under my house, but wanted to keep my son away from it. I will say, I met some great people in the RC sailplane groups and went to Kite Hill in Laguna Niguel a lot years and years ago. It was fun, but to be honest I'm glad it is behind me. Talk about not having much to show for spending thousands and thousands.

I have a traxxas revo 3.3 with all of the race mods that I regularly race for fun at a private track. I want to bring it to The Dirt at Perris.

One of my neighbors makes a good living off buying old rc cars collections from people that have gone down the rabbit hole, and then reselling them on eBay.

Yep, they used to have the best 8th scale on road track ever, with the small off road track out back. My dad got a Bolink pan car to go race there. Then one day we showed up and I was like.. uh… dad, there’s dirt all over the track. So we started racing off road. Lol.

Never raced but I would spend a fair amount of weekends at LRH in Anaheim.

I built a RC10B6 when it came out, I spent around $800 on it with the best of the best parts. I drove it about 3 times before LRH closed down and I didn’t want to drive to OCRC. Still have it with no where to drive it.

This is my latest purchase, although I have not built it yet, I hear its a pain in the ass so I have not had the courage to start it yet....a trophy truck with all the bells and whistles of a large scale RC, but in a package that fits in the palm of your hand....

LRH was a cool spot, i did a couple races their. still remember tagging one of those damn poles in the middle of the track and grenading the front of my 4wd buggy.

I use to have the full hobby shop catalog, no lie, had everything for team associated, losi, kyosho, xtm, traxxas, every model they offered. Grew up and sold off everything, looking at getting a traxxas XRT again. You can get super lost in the scene and blow your wad more than once. So much fun from racing with "pros" to launching a 8th scale nitro buggy leaned way out over an 6 lane interstate and sneaking onto golf courses to tear up courses. Oh the facking memories 🤣

Is there anywhere to race offroad 1/10 scale in So Cal anymore? Used to race Ranch Pit Stop back in the day, would love to get my kids into it.

started racing 1/10th off road in the late 80's - at RCHR Costa Mesa - the mecca! later picked up sponsorship from smaller companies then by Kyosho. Started racing 1/8 gas off road - travelled a lot internationally - IFMAR worlds Austria / Portugal / UK / Japan and all over the USA. raced some 1/10th on road electric as well - won a state championship and regional races. Made the cover of forget the name magazine a few times from a race in King NC.

Tons of late nights in hotel rooms preparing cars and thrashing on rental cars - many stories:) and good times of course. When money started to make its way into the racing it kinda took a lot of the fun out of it to be honest. Was burning out and had an opportunity to work in Indy Car - then was travelling all over the place for work. Again, good times!

here was the one hour A main event in Austria - monster track!!

I spent so much money every time I went to the track. It was $100 to replace the parts I broke every time, but damn it was fun. The track in Santa Clarita has closed down, so I don’t go anymore. I was one of the guys that bought planes and helis too. Talk about expensive, just crash a big heli and it’s $500-$1000 after a bad crash.

Raced a lot of 1/8th nitro off road for a lot of years. Raced for Jammin, Kyosho, ODonnell, Losi, Mugen. Traveled a lot. Met a lot of friends from all over the world. Now I race a little in the winter time. Still have some sponsors but just race to have fun with friends.
