Hello Everyone,
Last year I purchased an 07 28ft Daytona with twin whippled 525s (150hr since rebuild) and haven't really met anyone else with a similar setup. I really think its an amazing boat and overpowered for my boating needs. I will say the boats sweet spot is above 60mph where it can really sit above the water and listen to the music without hearing the engines screaming. Sorry if I sound like a Newb, but I'm coming from my previous boat that was a 25ft with a 632bbc.
I finally had some balls this summer to ditch the family and hit a couple 120 mph runs at 5100/5200 rpms. I can't lie at those speeds the adrenaline is pumping and you always want more, but the worry of pushing the boat is always a concern. Unfortunetly Its equipped with XR drives and my worries became reality when one of the drives started to hum going throught the channel. Took it down to D1 Performance (Dane super great guy) gave it to me stratight. Either I find some decent Nxt drives or we rebuild mine. Instead of finding some NXT's with who knows what done to them and I'm not trying to keep up with DCB's all day I went for my Xr Rebuilds. Now that they are all good to go and broken in I am thinking of giving her all she has and seeing what speed we can accomplish. I didn't get any dyno information when purchasing the boat, but I did speak to the engine builder down in Texas who explained from his recollection that the engines made around 800hp and the owner at the time hit around 140mph at the ozarks in 2019 with the 34p merc props. Anyways I'd like to see if anyone has a similiar setup and see what speeds they are hitting.
Thanks
