Yesterday my wife made a couple of Olson masks (a style of mask). It's a comfortable mask to wear with good coverage of the nose and mouth - much more comfortable with a better fit for most people than an N95 mask.
She made them with a pocket inside for insertion of filter media. We have some HEPA vacuum cleaner bags coming this week (found them on Amazon) and I'll cut one up and put it into the filter media pocket. In the meantime, I bought a 3M Filtrete HVAC filter with a 1900 rating capable of filtering "small allergens: smoke, smog, bacteria, particles that can carry viruses, and particles that can carry odors." We're using 2 layers inside the cloth pocket that's inside the Olson type mask.
