I am not trying to make a fast boat out of it, I just wanted to get something to play with while my step father and I rebuild his Spectra. We are having a new tall deck block machined for it currently and it probably won't be on the water until next season... This is just a cool toy, I have had jets all my life so I am somewhat familiar just not with this specific hull... Thanks for all of your input guys and please don't hesitate to make any suggestions, I am all ears!
Cool enjoy the hell out of it.
Drive it like you stole it
Super nice boat to play with just the way it sits .

Ok so some repairs and changes before last weekends trip to Parker. Started by moving the entire interior back about 3.5", I needed the leg room to get my knee out from under the dash. There was plenty of room to move the engine / belt cover back after some minor mods. The patch on the back of the seats worked amazing! Per Dave's suggestion I watched a few videos and just went for it, filled the gaps and cracks with multiple passes of silicone and smoothed everything out then used the patch material that worked GREAT! The hardest part was stretching it to remove wrinkles and then trimming it tight to the original beading. This will get me by until winter no problem! White trash repairs for the win! Sorry I don't have any pictures of how bad it was...

It ran great last weekend, fun little bote! We ran the hell out of it in the rain and everything from the lower sandbar to the dam... Luckily I have pedaled a little jet before, I forgot how much you have to read the water! This weekend water injection in the headers and rudder before the river again the weekend after. She ran right up to 5000 rpm and topped out well over 100 mph in Jet bote mph! She actually hit 56 on gps with three of us and about 8 beers.

… I was motoring around Lake Oroville one day in my 18 foot Hallett flatty… Ran across a couple of guys that were lotta fun in a jet boat and they wanted to race and I said no I’m not into that today and then I looked in their boat and I had some very large bottles of whiskey… I handed the driver my GPS/speedometer and said go make a run let’s see how fast the boat really is… This was after he told me that it went about 65 …when he came back and handed me the GPS …it said his very fast jet boat went 43…🤷🏽‍♀️

Where’d you get the vinyl patch? Amazon?

I have always thought that this is all relative to the distance between your ass and the water!

do you have any more info on this boat? I have one identical to it! and can't find any information on it.

Looks to be a similar hull! Other than jet vs v drive.

Love the general lee scheme!

As far as that boat, I bought it for a friend for $500 and he turned around and flipped it. Some friend right? Those pics are from my driveway the day I got it. It was a mess. I might have a review in my old magazines but I think the ad I posted above might be the only thing currently scanned.

My first v-drive was a clean 1971 eliminator with that same hull shape, yellow & white with all white interior. It rode horribly & porposed like crazy unless the plates were way down at any speed. It turned like a school bus. It had a nice 468 chevy in it that ran well. I sold it after a year to a guy from Utah.
I can understand why your buddy unloaded it. Better boats out there to put that much time and money into.....

well we shall see how this one does I put a 5.3 truck motor in it and am currently trying to finish it this month. I set the motor back little more than where the old big block was. trying to help with the ride.

I hope that works out well for you. The strut location/angle has a significant effect on ride/performance and quality. Engine power plays into it as well to help carry the nose at varying speeds.

It is for sale! I love this little Hallett and hate to let it go!
I need to finish the Spectra and can't really afford two botes! Make me an offer if you are interested! 714-814-3175 Jeremy
