Found this commemorative coin over the weekend and wounder if it has any value. Was in a felt pocket and looks to be in excellent shape.
Did a Google search but couldn't find this exact one. It's 45mm in diameter, 5mm thick and weights 50 grams. It's heavy but would imagine it is just gold plated?

I didn’t know those had any value, they’re generally given out by officers or senior enlisted.

Yeah, there's a lot of them out there but I couldn't find this exact one.

Challenge Coin for sure.
I have been part of a few groups that made them. Largest order was 1,000 coins and smallest order was 10 coins. I have also received a single unique coin as a sample.
Very likely you will never find any info.

Thanks. We found it in some old boxes at my wife's parents house. Now thinking about it our nephew was on this carrier some 20 years ago for 3 months. I'll bet he had sent it to his grandpa who was also in the navy during the Korean war. I'll have to add it to his (wife's Dad) shadowbox which has all his naval stuff on display in the family room.

The state of california has found the metal in this coin is a known to cause cancer. 🙂
But if you stick it up your ass it will entitle you certain benefits like not being able to get fired from a job, or being evicted, or thrown out of a restaurant due to your predilection of sticking coins up your ass. Plus you also get a tax deduction just because you’re fucking weird.

Only the best top shelf premium metal from China..... aka either 1987 recycled Honda or 1992 Ford.
Who knows. Likely evey coin is different and depending on age could be anything.

Grab a good magnet, magnetized 2.50 coin, non magnetized could be silver with gold gild.
