I have been going to Havasu Landing since 1970. Camped for two years then parents bought in Enterprise had that 8 foot wide trailer until 1990 then bought in Thunderhead 1. Since then we have bought in Havasu Mobile Estates across from Sail Inn. Now we don't have to pay rent, just launching fees. Love it..Summer or Winter tons of stuff to do.

Well, I know there is one other from the boards at the Landing. I met RVR SWPR (dave) and his wife Jodi. They were on the ramp with their STV, trying to get in a little late afternoon run on Sunday when we were putting the boat on the trailer.

Anybody else???

Old park is the park next to the campground.
Come in the main gate, towards the casino, follow the road around to the left, around what is referred to as the "horseshoe" past the old ramp. I am the last trailer on the front row, double wide. I have an old suburban in the driveway to move the boat around.
I'll be down next weekend, getting there sometime on thurs. the 29th. Stop by, we'll have a beer!

Well we are not at the Landing but at that other Indian place Havasu Palms (#37) on the backside on Whipple Bay. The Landing seems to be the closest spot listed and it is part of the same Indian tribe so I thought I'd check in!!

If you are cruising by and we're here you will likely see an American flag hanging off the back.....stop in for a cold one!!!

When we're not here we can be seen around the lake on our 28' PartyCat named Phat Cat.

Cheers!

Hey Paul, welcome to the boards! I guess all us on the Cali side of the lake need to stick together. LOL
I am sure I've seen your boat on the lake before, I'll make sure to say high next time I see you, my boat is in my avatar. We make a couple Rhino rides in the winter to Havasu Palms, you spend much time out there in the winter?

Yes we are out in the winter 4-5 times...usually for 5-7 days at a time. We have a couple of Quads which is our preferred "Fun" at that time of the year. We also have one of those tricked out gas golf carts that we sometimes use for excursions but it is pretty slow and in the end not really made for that kind of stuff. I have been thinking about getting a Rhino or some other "True" 4 wheel off road unit.

We use the golf cart to haul things from the plane (Palms has a dirt strip) so it has to double as a "Truck" (as the golf cart does with the rear seat/flatbed option) as well as a 4 seater when we have others with us.

Any recommendations on the best set-up these days for "Mild" off road with a major emphisis on comfort and size.....of course at a reasonable price???

Not sure if you're thinking truck/jeep or a rail, I would suggest the classified sections of glamisdunes.com for a place to start. Not sure what is in the offroad section on this site, havent been there in awhile.
I know several of the sand car manufacturers are selling used cars for their customers looking to upgrade or just cash out.

Vista Del Lago? Still there, not going as quickly or as smoothly has the developer had hoped, but they are maybe 25% of total. My buddy was just out there a few weeks ago looking at a place.
RvrSweepr has a place in there.

Vista Del Lago thats it, I usually drive up there when I am staying in the park but really it kind of looks abandoned. I dream of having a place at Havasu Landing I have been renting for years I just don't have the funds.

My understanding is there may have been an ownership change at VDL, and even if that is the case, new units going in may be slow for awhile. Eventually they will get that place full.
Where do u stay at the Landing, in the campground?

We do a weakly rental in Thunderhead on the water if we can swing it.
My whole family just loves the Landing we would love to be able to afford a place anywhere in the vicinity and come more frequently but unfortunately that is not going to happen for quite a while. I looked a VDL it looks like a great place and it is in Riverside or San Berdo county (I think)
I have always had good experiences with everyone although they are a few more rules now days, I quess the folks that rent property in the trailer park have a good lease. When you hear things happening like at Water Wheel it makes you think about the security of your investment.

Next time you're at the landing, swing by our place. We are at the end of the front row in the old park. Yeah a few more rules than used to be, but the kids still push them!
My dad had a place in the Landing when I was in jr high, and we've had our place now for about 10 years. Some of the rumors going round back then are still around. LOL. For the most part, the Indians have been OK landlords. Some time ago they tried to get greedy, and it didnt end well for anybody. Now they hve to get an appraisal to raise rents, (thats a BIA rule I am told)
and they seem to be trying to get a few of the infrastructure items taken care. IMO they are losing out big time on how they are managing the campground, but its easy to sit back and thingk you could do a better job with out knowing all the facts.
As long as I am not living there full time, the Landing is perfect for me. I dont think i could make it there year round, it gets too quite mid week for me.

Thanks for the invite I'll come by with some drinks. My family just loves HL when we first started coming to the river I thought we would do it for a few years and that would be it, that was 22 years ago and we would rather be there than anywhere. Never had any problems with anyone and most of the owners don't have any stories about the Tribe in a negative way. I did noticed they have increased the rental tax in the last few years, but still it is within reason. I would love to own a place there someday, kids need help for a few more years but after that I'll do it.
To bad some of the small buisness's across for the Sail have fallen by the way but it was probably tough in the best of times.
Thanks for the info I'll make sure to look you up.

Well we did it, found a really cool Rhino (with a Turbocharger) and a bunch of upgrades that we now have out at Havasu Palms and we are ready for the winter and some serious off roading!!

I am hoping that we might be able to find some folks at the Landing and the Palms for a run......maybe to Cupcake mountain or meet in the middle between the 2 parks???

We have been out here for a week and will be for a few more days getting everything set up for the Winter. I found a really cool trailer to keep my Rhino as well as the 4 wheeler in when we are not here. I added a solar vent as well as a solar powered charging system to keep the trailer battery as well as the Rhino and 4 wheeler batteries topped off and will allow us to keep them in a location right next to the runway for the times when can fly in......we'll see how this works out!!

So let's set up a ride and maybe a little BBQ.....I'll be happy to host!

Hey Chris, glad to see you over here! When you headed back down to the lake?

Hey Matt, Yeah I thought I would check out this site. I wanted to join a river forum. PB.com is kinda big and busy for me and I saw a few peeps on GD.com recommended this one. My wife and I (no kids) will be out for Memorial and were bringing my buddy Chris and his wife who you met that night we were chatting. Should be allot fun. If its under 100degs we may bring the Rzr4 and XP again. We had a ton of fun with them last trip and did 86 miles that weekend. If its hot though, we won't bring them and be on the boat more. Looking foward to it either way. Will you guys be down?

This place is growing, but it has a much more lets have a good time feel than PB, lots of fun here.
My wife and I are going down next weekend, 5-20/21/22, and I'm coming back down for Memorial with my daughter and a couple of her friends. Wife is going to a wedding. I am bringing my Rhinos home next weekend, and not sure how much boating will get done on Memorial day, with the yacht club stuff going on Sat.
Looking forward to it, see you guys then!
