Yes friend added it to the other side as swim step sits to high for kids. I have this on one side and the fold down on the other. This one is a lot easier to use with a swim step that sits high. I think it was $300 from Cobra.

I have been considering one also. Can you mount these to the bottom of a billet step?

Maybe it is similar to the one on the extended swim step I want to add. You would have to drill the billet step and thru bolt it.

My JC Tritoon came with one of these mounted under the swim platform and it works great. Only issue was last year the rubber strap broke after 9 years of use.

Didn't think about putting it on the other side, good idea

Yes, I installed this ladder on my 29' Magic about 2 seasons ago. Works great! Had the fold down before and Mom can get in the boat now. No issues so far other than the holes did not line up with the old aquaperformance step to install it.

Self folding ones are nicer they are just harder to use as the first step is kind of high when you are floating.

Mom is my same issue and hopefully it can accommodate some sort of dog ramp for my lab, i see most only attach to a ladder

NicPaus, is the bolt pattern the same as the self-retracting one? I'm also looking into changing mine out for the same reasons above, but mine is bolted through the fiberglass step. Don't want fiberglass repair

Yes you can mount them to a billit step. Prestige marine has one mounted to a billit step in there show room. I was just looking at it this past weekend. Going to be adding one to our boat as well.

For some reason I picture my brother's Dana steps to have thread tapped holes on the bottom to accept machine bolts. Maybe he'll see this and comment

Dang... Guess I could have one of each, just not sure how that'll look

It is not as nice as 2 of the same as they look more balanced. Friends Bullet has the 2 fold down and it looks more proportional, but his step is about a foot lower than mine so no need for the drop down. I like having both as it is fast and easy to board for most and the drop down is for kids and ladies. I plan on adding a extended swim step and debating keeping 1 of each.

Mine do have threaded tapped holes on the bottom, not sure it would have the same bolt pattern as needed though. I guess I just assumed that all of the billets came pre tapped
