Will be in San Diego for a few days next week. Will probably have a day to kill, haven't been to TJ for 30 years. Is it safe? Has it changed?

Pass straight thru to Rosarito, it's only about 15 miles south of there. And then head a bit further to Puerto Nuevo for cheap beer and lobster.

Drive past TJ and go to Puerto Nuevo. Last time we were down there we ran into Charlie Sheen. Take the toll road. It's $2 each way. They take USD. If your down there on Sunday you can go to the bull fights in TJ. After the match they kill and cook the bull. Free tacos for all the guest.

Oh screw it. What day are you going? I'll go with you.

I went 35 years ago... then went back this year.
It hadn't changed one bit.
same kid selling chicklits on the corner.
same crap stuff in every store. Tin, glasses, pottery, pictures of elvis on velvet,
Same donkey painted like a zebra that you can have your pic with.

But I did get a good meal, Chile Colorado Burrito, rice, beans, tortillas, unlimited chips and salsa, 2 coronas, 8 bucks.

On this side of the border Adios Mother is a cocktail, south of the border Adios Mother means you could be six feet under.

In Puerto Nuevo you can get 3 lobster tails, rice, beans, tortillas, and a margarita for $16 at La Casa Del Pescador. Get the lobster grilled.

Damn, I miss Puerto Nuevo. That's where we used to go and eat and drink beers during our stay.

We stayed at Las Gaviotas when we would head down there to surf. Good times!!

Ya, but the price starts at $30 and you have to negotiate down. The best we did was $15ea including a beer and a marg. :D
