I lost what I thought was a great friend to this during his first election due to him proclaiming "Trump is a racist " IDK.

Only liberal I know is my sister. We never discuss politics. She believes Nancy Pelosi is too far right. 😅

Our relationship is pretty solid. Went thought the passing of our parents with no problems. She visits in Florida.

No politics. No problem.

ALL of the women I know, including friends, are still incensed about that SC decision. To answer your question, yes, that had an influence on my belief that the issue would tip the scales for Harris, especially with suburban females. And don’t forget the shellacking the Republicans took in the 2022 midterms, especially among many Trump loved candidates, when that SC decision was more recent. That fact influenced my concern also.

Turns out the abortion issue faded a bit with the electorate after an avalanche of gaffes, missteps and just plain boneheaded policies by a clearly impaired Biden. The far left hijacked the Dem party and they paid the price for it. As you know, the pendulum swings both ways and make no mistake, the vast majority of this country’s voters are moderates, whether slightly left or right of center, and they clearly rejected that sharp left turn during the Biden term. Good riddance.
Yeah it lost its momentum for sure.
Partly because of Bidens obvious deterioration, but also because the truth started to be accepted that abortion is not banned federally or by any president or even by the Supreme Court.
The false rhetoric simply could not fully sustain itself, no matter how loud the quilting clatch crowed about it.

I know you’re a good guy, but we might need to find you some different women to hang with, at least part of the time! 👍👍😂

The few women I know that have brought this up simply did not know what the truth is. I explained the ruling and the implications and why RvW was never a SC issue and they seemed surprised.
They really thought that Trump banned abortion somehow.
Even though he wasn’t president or in power in any way.

So then they asked “well why is it now banned some places?” Told them that it’s up to the States now.
So either fight to change your state laws or move…if abortion is that important to you.

Because, and here is the kicker, the loudest protesters on this issue do not have an abortion on their schedule.

Do any of your group of ladies foresee an actual abortion in their future? See what I mean?

"Trump took away my reproductive rights"
I had a perfect, thoughtful and grammar checked reply to this all typed in and thought..."yeah, I'm just going to try to enjoy my day without receiving a shoulder bag to my head."

I think the personal growth TikTok's are really working for me! 🙃

The more accurate argument is that Trump initially ran on a pro choice platform, but flipped after election then picked pro life judges who weren't completely honest when queried about their intentions.

My wifes family, including my adult step sons, all hate Trump solely because "he's racist"....no other reason, maybe a few of the other MSM talking points, but most of their answers are because hes racist...my wifes niece was even one of those libs that got shirts made with kamala's face on it and then made a crying tik-toc when she lost...they all blame me because my wife is a Trump supporting Republican...the best part about it all, is my wife says FK them, they can kick rocks....lol...

I don't really have any fence sitters in my life. Most are normal hard working people that approve of what Trump is doing. Unfortunately all my liberal family members are so far gone they will never come back. They ignore facts, logic and common sense when presented with it, and all they see is Trump = MAGA which = Hitler, cased closed.
It's very sad.

What I really find funny about the "racist" argument, every person I've seen use that argument is a desk pilot type, and most are white. The construction dorks out here, mostly mexican, but also a few black and middle-eastern, love the guy. Maybe it's just out here though?

I have a good friend for a long time that hates Trump. He doesn't have a reason, he just does. I was in his wedding. We never talk politics. Ever.

We all have daughters and nieces. It’s not JUST about us.

And to defend my sister’s left leaning political views, she deeply cares about the disadvantaged and those less fortunate than us. She has a big heart and I admire and respect her for it (no matter how misguided are some of her views 😁).

Nope
Liberals are not my friends.

I grew up in a family of liberals. To a point I can understand (but not agree with) their thinking We can debate without anger.

I was debating my ultra liberal cousin on FB (who was valedictorian of his high school) when one of his friends came on and accused me of being a racist. I impolitely told him to fuck the fuck off and get out of my debate. My cousin came in and told him that we are family and love each other and that I “didn’t have a racist bone in my body”. That we just have different viewpoints.

I have some other friends that are liberals who respect me as I respect them.
It’s mostly the liberals that are full of hate and anger. I won’t be like them.

Union or non-union types? That used to make a big difference, but may not anymore. Pops was a union dem. Somewhere I have a pic of him with Diane Feinstein from the late 80's 🤫 He was a Mexican construction worker, but I don't think he voted until he bumped to journeyman. Most...actually, I think all of his brothers weren't allowed to vote, as I think they were all convicts.

As I used to tell my parents, everyone will vote for what is best for them, in their opinion. I always voted for the R's. Before I had money, when I had some money and now with "enough". My money has always come from people with more money. If those people made money, more of a chance they'd spend it, and I could make some. That's how I look at it, and it seems to work.

Nope! My wife is Mexican, came over when she was 7 years old, and she is the biggest Trump supporter and watches Newsmax when she has free time. Her family though, the ones in and out of jail, on the dole, whatever, are all liberal Biden people. They think Obama was the best president ever. It pretty must doesn't have to be said that we are hated.

We have even lost friends because my wife has not problem debating topics and being blunt about common sense governing. I'll tell you what, nothing pisses off a liberal more than an attractive minority woman that is ready to debate a liberal.

My wife explains to them that she received her citizenship because of Reagan. She is thankful for the door he opened, she is not someone that sits and waits for something to happen so she did what it took to get her citizenship, educate herself through school and the Bible and is an amazing productive part of this world. The rest of her family that wasn't born here still does not have citizenship because they don't want to work for it. They think everything should be handed to them.

My inner circle is like minded but the liberals at work can fall off the cliff for all I care. In fact, I like to stir the pot and enrage them closer to the edge. All done in a wholesome way not to get HR involved. My Red hat in my office is one way to limit interactions within my office. They don’t even like to enter my office due to the "red hat". :p

Your situation sounds a lot like mine...you should have seen all their faces when my wife showed up to a family event with her MAGA hat...it was awesome!!

Brother, I think we may be related in past life? 😂 My wife also came over at 9 years old, Central America. We need to get them together. She is the BIGGEST Trump supporter also, and all her family has pretty much refused to speak with her because of it. She gives no shits, because they are all drunk losers anyways. But thats another story. It amazing what the Spanish Liberal media companies have brainwashed that population with.

If we are ever in SD area, will hit ya up! Would be great to chat and hang out.

In short - Vote with your wallet in mind -

My wallet has always had more money in it with a Republican in office.

You can't vote with emotion and expect to be taken seriously by me.

I've had some interesting discussions with a few folks over the past couple of days - The term "dense" came to mind when talking about Biden pardons.

One of them after the incident in Virginia where the guy ran over some folks exclaimed Trump is a racist. I said you need to watch the next 10 seconds of Trumps comments instead of relying on what CNN is quoting for you - The response - I don't need to watch it, I already know he is a racist.

I don't have time for people that refuse to take a look at the entire picture anymore.

That's the problem with America now days - It seems a majority of the folks can't have a reasonable discussion and just agree to disagree at the end of the day if that is what it comes to, so I am going to stop trying even with some of the people I actually care about.

My Step-Dad has been an elected official since before him and my mom got married in 1985 - Elected as a DEM, and changed parties about 6 years ago. Made me proud.

My entire family was Big-Time Dems, most still are - My Dad was elected as one, and lost his re-election bid. My grandfather ran as one, had personal letters from Dems as high up as JFK.

I was the first to break the cycle 25+ years ago. My brother saw the light and switched 5 or 6 years ago. Before he went to vote in 2020 my Dad told him remember how your grandfather would have voted. I asked him what his response was. He said I just walked out. I would have told him grandad would be rolling over in his grave if he could see what JFK's party has turned into.

Other family members I have had to hide off social media because they are so far off their rocker with this stuff.

It is truly insane what politics as turned this country into.

Yup, started a new project with Paving/Concrete co.
It was still dark and didn't really notice his hat as it was Black.
As the sun came out I noticed it was a MAGA hat..
We chatted it up and he commented how not everyone likes it.
A black guy gave him some shit at the gas station that morning.
I told him he's got balls of stone to be a Hispanic and wearing that hat.
Yup, he's Hispanic along with his crew of ten.
Carry on...

I don't really talk politics very often. With the question asked in this thread, I just don't understand people being so upset. I had a family member that didn't want to come over for Thanksgiving because of the election, and even hung up on my wife while discussing that politics wouldn't be brought up at Thanksgiving. They ended up coming over for the holiday.

The people that had to Nov 6th off from work... I just don't understand it. If Kamala had won, I would have gotten up and gone to work on the 6th and gone about my life.

Maintaining friendships is far too difficult to invest in people I disagree with. I just simply don't give a shit enough to keep stupid people in my life.

As I get older I see less value in the work it takes to satisfy the needs of other people.

As far as Abortion, I support dumb people killing their babies, they can work that out with God however they like. I don't feel compelled to save people or their souls.

It's funny - I always took a similar stance on the subject. Usually say what gives me, you, or any elected official a right to play God. My opinion on the overall subject doesn't matter unless it affects me direct. If someone chooses to go that route, they can answer for it later.

To be clear, I hate that it happens, but at the same time others choices aren't mine. They are the ones that have to live with it.

I have a close conservative 70 year old friend who started dating a Bay Area Trump hating liberal. Mind you, his father was appointed Secretary of State in CA by Ronald Reagan after the incumbent died in office. His bother was CEO of Agilent Technologies for 10 years. He himself is a total gear head.

He has completely changed her way of thinking. By doing a couple of things. She hated guns and supported every gun measure Newsom and Bonta came up with.

He took her shooting. She was hooked and subsequently bought her own gun. Got her into hot rodding, and the whole car culture. Showed her the ways the media would backhandedly bash Trump.

She ended up voting for Trump this go around. Success one step at a time.

I honestly don't like being asked to participate in decision making on Abortion rights. It seems a very personal and difficult decision. IMHO Abortion rights advocates are trying to normalize an internal struggle by changing culture and justifying their own belief system. My guess is a large percentage of vocal abortion rights advocates are struggling with decisions they have made earlier in their lives and by surrounding themselves with people who believe it is OK they find some comfort.

My guess is the transgender community is about the same.

It does for his position as a senator when he was cow towing to his catholic base so he could get elected.
But then flipping when running for president.
