Just use ground penetrating radar that can be used to detect tunnels and other structures underground. Maybe drive on the road that parallels the wall and locate the tunnel locations, then follow them to where they end and surprise them when they come up. Or just fill the end with concrete.

I understand they are "Understaffed" and attempting to Patrol a Long and Wide Area thanks to this "POS", but you would think it would have been detected while being Dug or Soon after.

Although the dinner table scene is a close second.

While the border scene is one of Sheridans more accurate portrayals of tactics and response, the dinner table scene is a stark reminder that no matter what a person may think as far as life and death, and this or that, day to day existence, how clever they think they are or whatever…one thing always remains as true as the North Star…sooner or later, one way or another…the rent always comes due.

He required those lives for his action to have meaning…to underscore all of it.
Killing along the way is merely the path to his meaningful act of vengeance.
