The whole river looks booked up? Is there something special going on? Looking for a small and affordable spot for my wife and I (mid 50s old people) with a flatty to run up and down the river a couple times.

1 of the most important dates of the season. 1st Circle Boat Race of 2022!!!! YEEEEEOOOOWWWWWW!!!!

The river will be closed for all of LaPaz park.
So from the down river end of Roadrunner to Pirates.
Most likely it will be all day with no passage between race?

Or will they let folks pass between heats? Or Race categories?

They let boaters cruise by every hour or two

That was my prediction, if a purple 1994 hallet for 60k is still the thing, boating isn't slowing down anytime soon.

Gas seems to have paused here in Az at about 4.49 a gallon where I fuel up. I track my fuel spend annually at an avg of 6k a year for all my vehicles/boats. At 4.49 I will use about $1620 more this year than the past. That’s 135 a month… so to your point I won’t be boating any less, but I might cook at home one more night a week than we normally do.

Pitch a tent at the Sandbar resort. The weather is perfect for camping.

I might run that by the wife one more time. She was a hard pass last time I suggested it. Normally I might be able to pull off camping with her, but she is in ATL for work and flying home Thursday night and I am not sure I can even convince myself to ask that of her! haha...

That's perfect! She can stay home and clean the house while your're working on the boat at the river. Only problem I can see is who's gonna make your sammiches. :)

Big Bend has rental trailers or has in the past. Where have you tried to find lodging and crapped out?

vrbo/air bnb, foxes, sand bar, bransons, river shore, a couple of private places. I haven't had JTs answer the phone are they still in business? Lot of places have 3 day minimums which I fully appreciate. I thought this early in the season would be easier but the races are probably filling it up. I will try big bend and keep hunting around. It was just a last minute thought primarily because I am itching to run this flatty.

The joke is on me. I keep acquiring boats and giving them to her as a gift, so unfortunately she owns a couple of boats and I have to get permission to use them! haha
