I had an electric only had 1700 psi. Got a gas with 2800 psi and it is sooooooo much better with more pressure.

Harbor Freight is all I got for the use it gets around the house.

What I use works fine for cleaning dirtbikes and engines. All I use for anyways.

Never owned an electric PW. Have a few older high psi gas machines though.
The key to pump longevity is to not let the machine run without pulling the trigger for more than 2 minutes. And a short/quality hose from your hose bib to the pump gives you the best pressure and best pump life. Use more hose from the pump to the gun.
My biggest machine is about 25 years old. HONDA. 3800 PSI. I THINK. It's a heavy pig but it will pump 7 gallons per minute 3 stories. Fucks shit up if your not careful. It's ran 100s of thousands of gallons water through it. 2 pump rebuilds. There's definitely better. But for the money, and non professional use, they work.
An older Honda 3000psi gas machine will last a lifetime if taken care of.

If you're washing cars and what not I "think" the flow rate is probably more important than pressure. This guy has some good stuff and most of the hoses and fittings are top notch.

I have a “powerstroke” from Costco, it does okay for light duty stuff like washing cars. Had it for several years.

I also own this Ryobi. It has a Honda engine, which makes reliable power and hasn't hiccuped in 10 years of use. The soap tank and nozzle actually work good, unlike some other brands, and it pops 2.5 GPM at 3,300 PSI. The engine produces 5.6 HP.

The Cat 1850 delivers 1.4 GPM at 1,800 PSI. Thats not much better than putting your thumb on the end of the hose.

@H20 Toie , I don't want to be "the guy" that says you really don't want what you've selected. But seriously, it's not going to clean driveways and other basic stuff unless chemicals are used. The 3/4 HP motor draws 15 amps at full load, which means you're pretty much limited to a 50' 12AWG extension cord. It'll nuisance trip a 20 amp breaker with a 100' cord.

I'm sure you know the capabilities of the 1850. But a PW like the Ryobi has almost twice the pressure and delivery rate, and buying an electric limits your possibilities. If you're planning to use it with a generator, be aware when the trigger is depressed and the pump is first engaged, the inrush current can be 4-6 times the full load current. You're going to need at least a 3,000 kW generator to run it, maybe a 3,500.

Hope you find the PW that'll serve all of your requirements.

I’m on my second electric. First one lasted a long time. Bought the same one and it’s in it way out after 2yrs.

Pulling a water hose, electric cord and PW hose is a cluster fuck.

I’m going gas next time.

Depends on what you're using it for.

Gallons per minute, the more the better in most cases. It's not always about pressure, it's easy to get a cheap pump and spray 3,000psi, it's not possible to get a cheap pump to put out 7-10 GPM which is what makes cleaning easier and faster.

Also, how often are you planning on using it? If not very often, avoid gas. The thing won't run when you need it after it's sat for 6 months....or it might. Older engines seem less sensitive to the E10 fuel we have than newer small engine carbs it seems. I had a old "pacific hydrostar" from harbor freight from about 2000 with a mitsubishi engine on it....was a beast, until one day it broke a keeper on one of the plungers. So I threw a new pump at it....then the motor locked up somehow (water got it from storing outside...cover blew off). I put a new briggs on it and that worked about twice before I started having carb problems. Pitched it and bought a Karcher electric. Not as much woo-pah as the gas, obviously, but it works every time I need it. I think Karcher is at the top of the electric game, I'm on my second one in 3 years, but mine gets daily use and never has the water disconnected or even turned off lol.

I'm on my second Ryobi from Home Depot. Same company that that makes Milwaulkee and half dozen other tool companies makes Ryobi.

I think it is the 2200 PSI, it works decently. My wife likes blasting the patio and outdoor stuff. LOL I use it for work once in a while. They last a few years.

Harbor Freight Hercules tools are pretty darn good.

The GPM is what sucks about a lot of the newer electric stuff. Sure it’s high pressure but it’s like using a kids squirt gun. Takes forever. I have bought 3-4 new electric ones hoping they will be productive but I end up giving them to neighbor kids after it takes 30 min to wash the dirtbike. I always just go back to an old faithful Honda 3500 I have.

Anything less then 2.5 GPM is just painfully time consuming.

This is what I have. It works great for washing cars and boats. Hardcore needs around the yard to blast away real heavy stains etc it’s not the best at but does the job fine it just requires a bit more time and slower passes to get the job done.
Best thing I like about it, it’s basically 100% self contained and stores in a fairly compact size.

One thing negative, the pressure hose that’s included with it is absolutely terrible. I never even used it and bought a good one and all the quick disconnect swivel connections.

I got this for $40 brand new at a yard sale (I know GBPSE)....I did have to go to harbor freight to buy a better foam cannon and and adaptor cause the one it came with sucked...but I've washed the boat, dirtbikes, 5th Wheel, Truck, backyard deck, and its done everything I have needed it to do so far....I did try to use it to clean some oil in the driveway that someones POS Chevy left, and it wasnt too good at that but thats not really what I wanted it for....

Food for thought if your in CA.

They are stopping selling a lot of the quality gas equipment here. Much of what is for sale is end of the 2023 supply chain. If you’re teetering on buying something gas powered. I would do it now even if it’s a little more than you want. Because the opportunity may not be there next time you’re needing to buy. I’ve been picking up every month or so a Stihl product for yard work while I still can. Run the engineered fuel and they don’t give me any trouble sitting for a few months.

If you are going to use a DI system for washing cars, boats, etc.. the low GPM electrics work great. For more heavy stuff most gas ones you can adjust the pressure up and down so you don't ruin stuff.

Message me what you did for hose please. I bought a shorty sprayer and that actually helped a lot.

I’ve had both gas and electric, the electric one was cool for several years until it quit working. Pros were that you just plug it in and use it when needed. Cons were that it was just a cheapy one and you needed to be near an outlet.

The gas one was cool as you could use it anywhere, that being said the carb would him up from sitting and it became more of a spin on the ass than it was worth as it wouldn’t work when I needed it. I have that one away.

I’d go electric if I were to get another one, as well I’d buy a really good one this time around.

I got the gas Husqvarna $300 deal at Costco. Great setup. Noisy, but so is the sound of the water so I just use earplugs if I'm really cleaning something hard.

Also in TX we have ethanol free gas available in quite a few places. If you don't have that, you better run that engineered stuff they sell at HD. It's expensive but how much is your time worth when the fucker doesn't start and you have to mess with the carb and lines next time?

I have a Dewalt 3300 and couldn't imagine having any less pressure. It's good, but I'll be buying a Simpson 4200 with the Honda GX390 motor when I go to Arizona next time. If that is unavailable, I'll probably just get the 4400 at harbor Freight.

All my friends that bought electric felt like they wasted their money. If you do buy electric, look at the return policy.
