I think I have narrowed down my search to a 2024 GMC Sierra Elevation with the 3.0 Duramax. Anyone have one in the GMC or Chevy trim that can speak on daily driving, towing, overall maintenance etc. I have never owned a diesel but the 5.3 just blows with the cylinder delete. This damn model is tough to find in CA, so far I have found 1 and they dont want to deal. Found another one in Colorado I am calling on today. I tried both site sponsors with Dutton and Selman, nada.

We have a 23 Yukon with the Duramax. 12k miles and trouble free so far. Best MPG we have seen going to Havasu is 33.7 and around town we are seeing 20 - 22. Some say they eat DEF but I don't see it. Only have bought 3 boxes since we bought it.

I have only towed our 255 from the house to ramp and back. Plenty of power and tows it with ease.

It's because you are looking at the Elevation model. It's a base trim with the tech and some exterior appearance options. Kind of like the F150 STX.

I am not a fan of the seats in the GMC/GM. The interior comfort in the Ford is night and day. The new dash in GMC/GM is nice though, the large screen made a huge difference. Seats still suck though....lol

I have the GMC 1500AT4 with the 3.0 duramax. I daily drive it. 6” lift with 35” tires. 16mpg around town. Does great on road trips. Tows our 29nordic with ease.

I picked up a CPO '23 a month ago, I wanted the refreshed interior and leather with buckets and just happened to come across one exactly how I wanted. It has 13k miles, and on my last trip to the river at 75 I was averaging 34 mpg unloaded. So far I love it, I did get the auto start-stop eliminator and a banks pedal monster and I would recommend both.

I keep going back and forth whether to lift mine. All of my trucks have been lifted but then gas mileage went to shit, I must be getting old lol. How does yours do on the highway with MPG?

I have a 23 GMC AT4 w/ the 3.0 dmax. I daily drive it and have about 14k miles on it. Very smooth truck w/ plenty of power. I think I average about 20-21mpg over the lifetime. It’ll get 23-25 mpg if I’m just on the freeway. Roadtrip to Vegas got about 27 mpg which was nice to go there and back without having to fill up. I have not towed with it other than moving my enclosed trailer around the house, but they do have some cool tech w/ towing.

I originally considered the elevation, but by the time you trim it out with options, the spread between the elevation and the AT4 wasn’t that much, so I went w/ the AT4.

Great info guys. Thank you!

I have an older truck and a razor for the dirt, this thing will be a pavement queen so no need for the AT4 or the like. I would rather pay for the interior bling, tow package, and blacked out look. I want white or that new thunderstorm grey.

Thanks to the member above I might have found one in Banning. Saved me going to CO.

Just picked up a 2024 elevation myself. No miles yet. Bought because buddy has 3.0 diesel in Tahoe and had couple trucks. I bought for his mileage report but towing when it uses more fuel it uses def crazy. Saw a pile of warranty def tanks at the dealership. A tech told me they had issues and then u get the low def / reduced speed message.

We have a 2023 Chevy Z71 LTZ 4wd with the 3.0 Duramax. It is outstanding. We bought it in August 23 and it has 15k miles on it already. Even with a 35" tire it's getting 29-31mpg on the highway. Highly recommend!!!

I recently sold my dually and bought one. Best truck over ever owned. I’ve hauled 9,000lbs with it and very impressed. I did the Chevy but like the look of the gmc’s just didn’t want to spend the extra coin for it. Either way you are in great shape. If you want a Chevy hit us Jason at selman. He is on the boards. He offered me a great deal but just didn’t have the color I wanted and ordering was gonna take 4 months. I would absolutely buy from him if I was going to order one.

PAVEMENT QUEEN. I highly recommend these new GMC's.

I wanted an old man truck for river duty as my daily driver has been a leveled F350 Dually on 37"s

2023 Sierra Denali with the 3.0 duramax. I get over 30 to and from Havasu and 22 around town. I did the paint matched fenders, removed the steps and added the amp steps, swapped Denali wheels for the 22"s, and added a hard tonneau cover.

I absolutely love this truck.

To piggyback @OldSchoolBoats comment, it tows my 300T around town and launches with no problem (it has 4x4 just in case). I will not tow heavy across the desert with it. But my smaller boat is no issue.

Has anyone owned the previous gen 3.0, and the new 3.0 ? I'd be interested to see what the MPG and power difference is in the real world.
I usually pick trucks up a few years old, so used trucks i'd be looking at might be the previous gen motor. Any info is appreciated

My neighbor had the older AT4 w/ the LM2 in it. He now has a new AT4 w/ the LZ0... I'll have to ask what he thinks, but he prob only has a few thousand miles on the new one. I think the older LM2 got a little better MPG and used less DEF.... but almost 10% less power. He did have about 75k problem free miles on it before getting the new one.

What kind of speeds are you guys driving to Havasu to get that kind of mileage?
I was between 70 and 75 heading from Vegas to the river. Unloaded and just myself in the truck, was the first trip outta town in it so I was watching the MPG

You will find the Chevy version allot easier that the GMC version. I have owned 2 of the chevy versions with the LM2 motor. I average about 22 to 25 around town, and have seen as good as 32 mpg on the highway. Towing my 24' boat, i have averaged 19 to 20, but I drive pretty fast. I'm sure I could get better mpg if i stayed out of the throttle.
I looked at the GMC versions, and they were always $10 to $15k more. I actually saved $10k off the sticker of my first version in 2020 and saved $8500 off the current 2022 version that I have through Courtesy Chevy in Escondido. They don't do crazy mark ups.

I drive 75-78 with a full car and bed loaded with probably 300lbs. Average 28-30 depending on traffic, A/C etc.

Thank you. I appreciate the compliment.

I've always loved the Chevy 04-06 1500 crews and have owned a few. As well as a 16 and 17.

But these new GMC's are sharp. I looked at chevy, but really preferred the GMC overall.

So today from Havasu to Monrovia I got 32.6 which when you factor in the 4.6% larger tires it ends up being 34.1mpg.

View attachment 1377572

On the left side of the gauge were it says 39.9. Right below were it says 50 mi, you can change that setting to go up to every 450 mi. Change it and see what your real average is. When it is set at the lowest range it shows incredible milage, but when you space out the intervals it shows a more realistic average.

Driving into work this morning I didn't need AC on, set cruise at 70 and drove 30 miles. Got 36 MPG.

Last week I drove to Phenix from LA. Set cruise at 75 and got 38 mpg, using AC most of the way. Filled up when I got to Phoenix and it said I had 705 mile range because the mpg was so high.

I do a manual calculation as well. They are both within 1 mpg or so.

From Havasu to Barstow I run 80 except around Water Rd. (too many cops), from Barstow to Monrovia normally 70-75 due to traffic.
