Out of curiosity what was there to install? There’s nothing really to it depending on what style you chose.
Its on the roof, or actually at the top of the 16’ wall on the parapet. and I’m disabled.
I could have done it, just slower.

The kickstand it comes with is really for temp use. Most people want permanent. I've installed well over a hundred. Most common on a pole, old 18" Dish mounts, up to 30' poles. We have many areas with trees so need height. If you order the pipe adapter it will fit most poles.

That makes sense. I wasn’t sure what kind of prep was needed.

Seems like a pretty slick way to power a mini.

Will it work on the move or only stationary?

Hey all,
When activating my Starlink, I accidentally ordered another kit.
I’ve been trying to return it and get my money back, but they don’t make it easy;
unless I set it up, activate it, then initiate a return, but I would rather just sell it.
So if anyone wants to buy a new-in-sealed-box Starlink at a discount, let me know.
I paid $285.41 for it, so I’m hoping to get most of that back. $200 pick up near Tucson, $220 shipped.

SOLD

Where are you guys mounting your Starlink units? Neighbor has his sitting in his front yard😬. Trying to figure out where to put it if we switch over.

You want a clear view to the northern horizon in most cases within the continental US. If you are near the coast a view north and towards the coast is the usual

Interesting....where are you seeing that advert.?

You can also power it directly from just a cheap m18 receptical that are widely available on amazon. You just have to make sure that you don't run the battery down too far if you do it this way. Basically you need to unplug it before you get to the last bar of battery power.

These units linked above have a built in voltage sensing disconnect that does this automatically for you.

If you leave it plugged directly into a battery it will run till it basically kills the battery, It won't be able to be recharged without some hassle of jumping it with another battery etc. This is an issue inherent to lithium batteries and how they charge.

Just got the Starlink standard kit and switched over to Starlink business from bam broadband/desert inet. They were limited to 100MBPS and the radio dish had to be in line of sight with a repeater. We don’t have fiber where I’m at which isn't surprising as I’m on a well, septic and propane. Only reason we went with business was because residential is at capacity in my ZIP Code. Also went with 1TB plan as we use close to 100GB a week.

Very happy with the ease of install and performance so far.

New baseplate for tile roof from data alliance I bought separately with Starlink pivot mount base mounted by (2) 3/8” stainless bolts and nylock nuts.

We're putting the house on Starlink and canceling Direct, ATT internet, and the house phone.

Who are you using to replace Direct?
Direct streaming is free, and we've put ROKU on all the TVs. Some of our TVs are ROKU. Far better than Google TV.

My home internet bill will increase $43 next November. I bought a SL mini, if it works out as advertised,
I will be cancelling Directv after 20 + years and buy a home home starlink.

I can't answer that. We hear its free, but haven't tried it out, it works on ROKU, but beyond that I don't know.

We watch very little on Direct. Won't miss it.
ROKU has apps with all kinda local channels anyway.
Some app that's all they are,, just local.

Nothing is ever free from Directv.
I read ATT sold it.
We've always felt they are greedy and the customer service was never to be trusted.

Where we really committed to dumping ATT was in the greater Sturgis / Deadwood / Galina areas last visit it was the only service that worked. May be cured now but it wasn't a few years ago. ATT refused to let other services in their network up there at the time is what Verizon customer service told us.. So F them. On Sat now. Musk will eventually have a phone we'll consider that too.

ATT sent a service person to our house to agree with us that their WiFi sucks and charged us $100 for that concurring info. An attractive rep came along and tried to upsell us everything else but stronger, more reliable WiFi. Even router boosters barely strengthen the signal.

Enough ATT.
If my dime helps get Musk to be the first Trillionaire and it pisses off Democrats,, I'm good to go.

How does it work with Direct TV being free for streaming? Don't you still need a DTV account? I have Dish and would love to cut back some of this crap?
The way I read it yes, you still need a Direct Account to stream full local channels. $67. Add the Sports package it's $177.

Asking them on the phone, they only gave Satellite info, wouldn't give any info how the streaming works, so I eventually got this info clicking around.
The free streaming Direct TV is very limited.

We'll probably go the basic family $67, then add the Sportsnet LA app for $20 a month and save $1100 a year.
