I spent the last 3 days at bolsa chica beach enjoying the great weather, I will say the motorhome you see the most by far is the hurricane, then the ace and then different DSl pushers.

You're right about the cult standing ,most that own them say they drive more like a car because of the air suspension.

here's the holy grail of of gas rv's right here.... the "work horse" 26k chassis, 22'' aluminum wheels, 8.1 vortec, allison trans with air brakes....this one of the best out there.... huge double door fridge a super tow rig,,,I had the 32v model of these... put 80k trouble free miles with never going in the shop..pretty sure this one had the straight axel front, but the springs were spot on compared to the fords...

another thing,....this is a winniebago , and the coach build is nice, nice wood and interior fit and finish,,,I personally think these loder coaches were built better with alittle more pride in workmenship...can't go wrong here if the size works...

Steve- couple of questions for you on all of this. Been looking at coaches like this and I’m seeing GCWR of 26k and GVWR of 20,500-22,000. Am I missing something on how they can tow so much weight? Also notice that the work horse chassis always seems to have a lower GCWR, not sure why...

Also any opinion on the mid 2000’s Winnebago Sunova’s? GVWR of 18k and GCWR of 26k...

I think you mean the hot air rises from a basement a/c leaving you navigating thru hot air vs walking through cold air coming down on you.

no I asked that and he said his was a basement ac and went all the way to the roof.. I asked why wouldn’t they just run it out of the floor? He just shrugged

there's something about rating above 26k,... some states make you have an endorsement...pretty sure the 18k chassis is gcwr 22.5... most all 26k rv's have 22.5 wheels you have to not read on forums to figuer out how much you can tow... as there is not stated tow rating other than what the hitch says max is...
you to load the coach, and go weigh it... if it weigh 21k you can tow up to 4k without going over weight...I towed a 12k loaded race car trailer all over with a E350,,,, one day my speedo started going wonky, it had 35k miles so still warranty... the tech at ford says, what have you been towing, ahhhh 2 jet ski's... ahhhh bull shit , look at this ring gear.... one more shift and it would have ate through the gear,,,,

the new ones stae a gcwr of 30,000 lbs

Here you go, the best MO-HO on the road for the price, I used to get a new one of these every year, super roomy feeling. always enough power, low maintaince , pretty easy to get around, and won't break the bank...this one shows pride of owner ship well with lots of cool upgrades...

I like this one a lot pretty much perfect for me. Might try to go look at it. It’s not very far from me. Thanks

I have been watching this one. It was posted for 46 last week now 42. This one has the basement AC.

Just curious. What would be the downside of getting something like this?

Unless it has a pile of miles, or it needs a pile of work, I’d rock that bitch! If batteries are good, and tires aren’t WAY old, it would be a great coach IMO. LOTS of fun to be had in a coach like that, and not break the bank doing it!

here's the deal, those were called the porche of motoer homes, like said, the miles might be a hold up.... next, see if it has the vansco wiring,... if it did I would pass, nothing but a head ache ... the 8.3 is a real nice up grade from the 6.7, and no def!!!!! , the neway valving keeps the coach running smooth...like said above.... I'd rock it,... but for me, as I did the last alpine....I'd end up throwing a ton of doe and time doing an up date,,,... if I thought I'd leave it as is and just put fuel and go.... i'd buy it... when I took my alpine apart you could see the differance in quality compare to newer coaches... but, that coach was most likely 200-250k new... in a breaking test, that coach will stop 60' shorter than a coach with air brakes, but that comes with and time tested problem,... you have to keep the fluid changed, or the system will rott away,.... next, not sure if that one has the wax valve fan,... but it causes the dash ac to perform poor,... and mine was only 34' and chasing the sun across the 40 it was 95 degrees inside going down the road.... we pulled in to needles and hid behind a big building to get it to cool down...

here's the deal with RV's rv's are as personal as foot ware, one must first ask ones self why do you want one, and what will you do with it...then try to find one that checks as many of the boxes....I don't want to sound tooo pompous.... but, i'm ols as dirt and if you played the game anywhere close to right you end up old with a pile of doe... kinda like playing the monopoly of life, by the time you end up with a stack of properies and a nice stack of 500's stashed under the board.....GAME OVER... that being said... I could but any RV made... and write a cashable check....but, the coach I have, A 29m hurricane ...v-10 gasseser... checks almost every box for me..Happy Camper here...

best advise given
buy what you need and meets your requirements for usage. No need to buy what you want, you will not use half of stuff. The easier it is to use, the more it will get used
