The Goodman/Amana heat exchanger is pretty good. The only times I have seen them fail was due to improper install.
overheating and or poor airflow will kill a heat exchanger.

FWIW, I used to be on the Board of a new construction AC company and pulled my old (maybe two year old) pricing sheet.

A Goodman 5 ton 16 SEER Horizontal Heat Pump Package Unit was about 3350 bucks cost.

A Goodman 5 ton 16 SEER 138,000 BTU gas package unit was about 4100 bucks.

That is obviously nothing but the unit, in bulk volume and we had to pay shipping.

Not sure if that helps but that was the pricing.

I don't want to get into a my dick is bigger than your dick shit show
BUT
You come across as being young, arrogant and very ignorant. But that is OK I was that way about 30 years ago.
I figure you are a tech/installer. When you grow the balls to start your own company, take the mechanical exams and while you are at it take your commercial boiler exams ( unlimited BTU's / low pressure ) IF you pass them ( I did first try ) then maybe you can talk to me at my level of ability. When you learn what it takes to own and run a business then MAYBE you will understand what job costing and overhead costs are. I don't need to prove myself. Anytime you want to do a tech exam with me I am ready.
OH and BTW that equipment you don't like because it is hard to service - That is the brand I have sold, installed and serviced for the last 35 years. OH and it is SIMPLE for me. As all residential equipment is. Come work with me on some real equipment sometime and I will be glad to teach you how it is done. OH did I tell you I used to teach HVAC service also. MY BAD

You didn't answer me did you build your own engines or did you pay someone to build yours.
I have been building engines since I was 21. Latest is 598 cube solid roller set up for an M4 when my wife no longer needs me to take care of her ( If the boat kills me I will be the only one out )
Dude, reading comprehension 9bviousoy is NOT your strong suit. Read his posts. He is a CO-OWNER in his company. He knows his shit.

Seriously, the more and more you post the more and more of a blow hard you come across as.

He sure doesn't come across as knowing how a business is run.
And I am not the only one that feels this way.
Anything a business does that costs time or parts or money IS part of the cost of running that business.
This is a fact that can't be denied.

Tell me how would you respond if someone called YOU out like he did me.
Do you just let someone call you stupid.
I don't back down to bullies. I call them out.

Well.....there’s a reason my nickname is “billdo” so I can understand your apprehension in comparing dicks [emoji15]

I can see your reading comprehension level strikes again and as a matter of fact I am an owner of an HVAC business and responded stating as much when you asked the first time. In fact I know exactly what it takes to own and run and grow a business.

You have a boiler certificate??Holy shit. Do you also have business degrees or are you just an old technician with some certificates?

I Cut a P.O. to Trane today for $80k. Never said it was “hard to work on”, it’s just not my preferred product and I explained why. If I couldn’t work on it I sure wouldn’t be selling it[emoji6]

You should pat yourself On the back you can pass a boiler test but have the reading skills of a pre-Schooler.

At this point it’s sad, I feel like I’m picking on the stupid kid in class. He can’t even read and understand what’s being said to him. But his mom told him he’s smart and he’s got some certificates on the wall so everybody watch out.

Do some research before coming back at me next time. [emoji867][emoji867][emoji867]

All I said was there is no free lunch. Someone pays for it.
Any business owner would know this.

And I am the one getting flamed.
at least there are a few here that understand.

Correction -
What is it with you and name calling.

You initially called me out And You think I have problems reading.
Get over yourself.
I am not going to stoop to your level by calling you by the name that fits you to a tee.
Lots of people have degrees in stupidity. and before I started my own business I was a manager at the biggest residential HVAC company in west Michigan.
And your dick is bigger and it is showing.

AGAIN - GET OVER YOURSELF
YOUR NOT VERY GOOD AT TAKING CORECTION

Apparently you're really short fuse really messed with your compreshension and memory. You called bullshit when he said he doesn't chrage his customers for his 10 year warranty. He also stated IF they have a warranty call the company eats the labor. How you were writing it, you were accusing him of charging his customers for the warranty by writing into the job cost. Then you questioned his integrity when he stood by his word, you dug in then turned it into a pissing match. You were most definitely the internet bully in this situation. And honestly, most of the HVAC threads you come across argumentative

.

Incorrect sir... you said “nobody offers a 10 year labor warranty”

I politely stated “we do with all of our installs backed by us”

You said “that’s BS you’re changing the customer for it” at that point..... you labeled. Me a liar...fuck you.

And yes like I originally posted we do NOT charge the customer for this. But you’re right someone does pay for it and in this case, if we have to warranty I pay for it as a business owner out of my profits. So you are Damned sure that I take every step to ensure everything is on the up And up.

Unfortunately after going back and forth with you your level of intellect shows through and now I understand who I’m dealing with.

For that i apologize to you Warren.....

your saying I said something I didn't
I said that the cost of the 10 year labor warranty was built into the job cost. I never said he billed his customers for the warranty.
His "FREE" 10 year warranty IS a cost to the business - this is a fact - therefore it is a cost of doing business and is an overhead cost.
I offer a lifetime warranty on workmanship on everything I install or service. That is a cost to my business - I don't try to hide that fact.
It is a cost that I build into EVERY job or service call the same as the cost and maintenance of the service vehicles, insurance, utilities, office supplies, etc, etc, etc.
EVERYTHING that is a cost of operation is cost built into the price the customer pays.
If someone doesn't understand this than maybe they should go back to college.

He originally called me out and I responded.
He then went into a name calling hissy fit.
Real professional business method there.

The Goodman unit that came with my new house in Havasu lasted 5 years. Is that how long they normally last? Doesn't seem like a "quality builder".

Goodman aka Amanda aka Daikin are all good products. So are several others! You need a contractor that does a performance test pre summer in Havasu. They should measure superheat, subcooling air flow etc. high super heat or high condensing over ambient will kill a compressor pretty quick on a 122 degree day. The factory’s put on cheap plastic Schrader caps with crappy O ring and just a few ounce leaking out can cause terminal damage. If your in Havasu I would have a thorough PM done. BTW if they only charge you 49$ for a pm chances are they aren’t checking all the items I listed. Remember kids? You get what you pay for

I can’t believe I missed this thread for this long

That is the only excuse for what you wrote.
Someone that understood business or went through business classes would never respond as you did.

Lol. I give up. Between the lack of any comprehension skills and his make believe “facts”. There’s just no reason to even have a discussion. Either he doesn’t read what’s being posted or he just truly doesn’t understand what’s being typed. Either way....there’s just no point.

I actually pity him at this point.

You need to go back to business school because you didn't learn anything the first time. That is if you went in the first place but I doubt that you did because what I am trying to teach you is basic business 101.
I guess some people just can't learn. You must be a head full liberal. Liberalism is a mental disease that usually can't be cured because they go blind to basic logic.
Stupid is stupid does.
Like I said even some of your customers have seen this side of you. It is a shame you treat people this way. Go take some business classes and get back to me when you learn what I am talking about

Is this in response to something? Or just another one of your off the wall posts? One thing i have noticed is you will make a statement, i reply and then you start another topic ignoring the reply. You can’t actually hold a conversation.

Let me put it in layman’s terms for you. I don’t NEED business advice or guidance from you! My guess is you are the “owner” of some podunk AC company. If you really were a big deal you would have posted it and shut me up right away. you have been doing this for almost Half a century and probably don’t have much to brag about in regards to the success you and your business has achieved.

Maybe you can hire a local tutor to read this thread to you and make sense of the things you just can’t understand or comprehend. It’s apparent you struggle with comprehension.

It is just very obvious that I have a higher level of business education than you do.
So I am sorry that you can't comprehend business 101. I never changed the topic.
And what I do or don't do, have or don't have is none of your or anyone else here's business.
You obviously don't want my or anyone else's opinion.
But if you go back and read my original post you hopefully can understand that I wasn't talking to you.
You stuck your 2 cents in where it wasn't asked for.
You just can't seem to understand that NOTHING is free in business.
Someone has to pay for it.
The someone as in the customer.

Interesting way you have of showing your customers and potential customers how YOU treat people.
You don't know me so you don't even know if I could have been a potential customer.

Others have told you of how you come across on this forum and you just keep it up.

Show me where I have ever been unprofessional here.

I treat people the same here as I would face to face.

You come across as someone I would NOT want to do business with.

One big difference between you and I is that I come her mainly to help people with their problems. I don't believe that you can say that.
It seems like you enjoy causing problems and stirring things up.

Again I would not want to do business with you.

I don’t know how i will survive with you not wanting to do business with me. Might as well close up shop..... lol

I knew you wouldn’t post up any actual info about you because that’s what you are, you can be whoever you want with anonymity. Posting real info opens you up to being called on your bullshit. Just like you TRIED to do with me in this very thread, albeit unsuccessful. [emoji6]I have nothing to hide, many people on this board know my business, know where my houses are and have even been to them I’m a real figure not some guy hiding behind a keyboard lurking and talking shit.

I can guarantee you would NOT talk to me and say 1/4 of what you have said to me if this were a face to face conversation. I looked through your posts. You are a shit talker taking shots from behind your keyboard. You have had little to no interaction face to face with people from this board. Ironically you question me who has been around for years and am very active both personally and professionally with actual people on this board. To be very clear I do NOT participate on this site to promote my business or look for customers. I come here to shoot the shit with friends (actual people I know) and on occasion help people when they are asking a question about something I know. I do not view the members on this site as potential customers. We are a site sponsor and have been for many years due to my friendship with RD. If a board member wants to work with me cool, I bend over backwards for them, if not no biggie doesn’t affect my professional life. Ironically we have quite a few customers that post here and I guarantee if you asked them, not a single one would regret doing business with me. I have a back log of AZ installs lined up for board members, as Soon as our AZ license is active because they don’t trust anyone else.

That being said....I really am done with this. You are a jackass and can’t hold a 2 way discussion. I have responded to every one of your “claims” in regards to me with facts. You just ignore it and move onto some other make believe scenario about me which you fabricated with no basis. I have figure out how I’m going to survive knowing I lost your potential business. [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]

Peace out [emoji111]️

How equipment is installed is very important but sometimes stuff just breaks for no reason.
I had to change out the variable speed inducer on a one day old furnace today because it was noisy.
Got a $400 tip today because the customer thought I did such a nice job and went beyond what was contracted.
Customer wrote a check for $8000 for a $ 7600 job.
You didn't tell them that you build the tip into the cost of the job?

So... are you guys saying he should go with a Coleman? o_O
I'm going to change my roof mount packaged A/C system in next few weeks.

Guy just out and quoted me on new 5-ton, 16 seer AC. 2 stage (because I want to have 2-zones). New stand, new elbow and new ductowork (R-8) and thermostats.

My real question is he is quoting a Coleman Unit with 10 years parts/labor warranty. I'm really wondering about Coleman brand.... Is that any good?

We're in the 20K neighborhood so I wanna do my homework.

Thanks in advance.

Up until now I have been having fun.
Unless you want me to go on the internet and make up stories and lies about YOU than don't make up stories and lies about me.
I Don't "shit talk" like you admit to.
And I have never said anything here that I wouldn't say face to face.
And I would say to your face everything I have said here.
I have not had any interaction with others on this board because I am 2000 miles away from California.
As far as having a two way conversation - It is hard when we don't have the same level of education.
And again enough with the name calling - it is showing again your level of education.
SEE line two above.
